Interview PLEASE TALK ME DOWN

I interviewed for a position last week and was told I would hear the decision by mid this week. When I hadn't heard this morning I emailed to ask if a decision had been made (obviously in a polite way!). I got an autoreply from the person who had interviewed me saying there was an unusual volume of work outside the office and there would be delays in replies. Am I unreasonable to hold onto hope that theres been a delay in the decision and I still have a slight chance?!!!!

I would presume they’re still deciding yeh.

I reckon they have offered it to someone but they are waiting for refs and confirming history. Imo you are not a 'no', probably 2nd/3rd, so theres still a chance x

Absolutely not no. While it's still a maybe you've still got some hope.
There again they could have already got someone and could just be fobbing you off
Good Luck

Round our place it takes AGES for decisions to be made and we wouldn't offer to the preferred candidate if we were still interviewing others. You have hope.

You do still have a chance, don't panic.

I recruit and I always think the rejects are much easier to work out quickly.

I am actually in the same boat - had a phone interview Fri, they were desperate to get me in for F2F so did that Monday (though it was a bit odd and felt a lot like 'going through the motions'), they said I'd probably hear today, recruiter has texted to say he's expecting to hear today and indications are that they want me to meet Head Of type person......that was about 10am....on tenterhooks!

This doesn't really happen, references can take weeks and weeks to come back, you'd never leave someone holding on that long.

It's just a case of getting the decision in front of the right person and people always underestimate the process of how long this will take.

Though we interviewed a guy yesterday at noon, got his feedback about 2pm, made the offer about 4pm and had his acceptance by 5pm, contract gone in the post today - so it can happen quickly.

I think I'm just taking hope from the "extremely busy due to unusual volume of work". But i think deep down I know k haven't got it. It was literally the dream job.

This was me last Friday. I was told no at end of a full day interviewing.
Im still gutted, id have been brilliant at it.
Remain lost about everything now. All i can think of is that someone else will be sent that contract, getting uniform, a start date.
Cant let it go, it was a dream job also.

Haireverywhere · 13/09/2018 15:29

I once assumed I hadn't got a position but three days after they said they would the recruiting manager called and offered it! Wait and see!

Best of luck!
