I already made a thread about this last week in children's health, but since then I've had three GPs and a pharmacist scratching their head with bewilderment.
So my 3yo has had this mark on her leg for 10 days now. At first I thought it was a mark where her knickers were too tight, but it hasn't faded or changed in those 10 days. Never hurt her, she was convinced it was pen! It is similar to a stretch mark in that it is below the skin.
I couldn't get an appointment for a few weeks so I showed a GP at my work the photos and he said to push for an appointment this week as she may need blood tests to check cortisol levels. Showed it to our pharmacist who said the same. I obviously googled and saw all of the syndromes he was thinking of and scared myself half to death. She is also very clumsy, which is a related symptom to one of these syndromes.
Went to the GPs today and she said it wasn't anything like that as it blanches when pressed. But said she'd never seen anything like it in 40 years. Took us to another GP for a second opinion who said the same, she's got no idea. Said she's not majorly concerned as her obs are fine, but hard to say objectively as she has no idea what it is, and to bring her back next week.
But I'm panicking tbh. She was admitted into hospital a few months ago after not being able to walk or hold her head up. Got better after a day or so and was discharged with no diagnosis. Which makes me even more anxious about her health. Surely these aren't both medical mysteries? Is that common?
I'm hoping to ask one of the newly qualified GPs tomorrow at work if it's not too busy to see if they have any ideas. But I wondered if anybody on MN did?
