AIBU to want warm ankles?

Why must I show a strip of naked flesh between footwear and hem of trousers?

Every magazine or website I look at has women wrapped in coats and jumpers, all layering frantically whilst exposing their ankles to the elements. Apparently, the hems on jeans must also be turned up when wearing ankle boots.

I agree that it looks lovely on slim people without thread veins, but what am I meant to do?

I'm already feeling the cold and have my hems pulled firmly down over my Fly ankle boots, but it is making me feel frumpy. Any sensible suggestions welcomed.

I opt for the knee high riding boots and black skinny trousers/jeans. Means I can wear nice comfy socks too!

Mumof1andacat · 12/09/2018 19:42

Could u wear knee high tights under your trousers?

Bestseller · 12/09/2018 19:45

YANBU - I buy my trousers in a longer length so they cover my ankles Grin

Holidayfromreal · 12/09/2018 19:46

I bought some new jeans the other week and didn't realise till I put them on that I have exposed ankle. I have taken to wearing beautiful socks, I'm thinking if I do it with confidence people don't notice Smile

This made me laugh so much, we were out the other day and my husband said 'do women not wear full length trousers anymore?' When I actually started to notice, everyone had their ankles out! Now I notice it all the time. I'm an ankle covered person myself Grin

I have very lovely ankles that the world should see, but I am in knee high boots, floofy socks and warm as toast when the cold starts!

I even had them on yesterday when it was a bit breezy! The only thing that would have made it toastier was a nice all in one underwear teddy thing! Just in case of a gap between my jeans and my top.

It was warmer today, so I got the ankles out. leopard ankle boots and skinnies.

Also, with a 28 inch leg, normal people trousers are the right length on me!

redsummershoes · 12/09/2018 20:29

yanbu
long trousers and, most importantly, mid calf socks here.
non of that ankle trousers £ trainer sock nonsense,

amusedbush · 12/09/2018 20:34

I bloody love ankle grazer skinny jeans. It’s a flattering length on me; I have a very long torso and short, dumpy legs so it showcases my disproportionately slim ankles Grin

Threadastaire · 12/09/2018 21:36

Please don't blow this for us shorties. With the current fashions I've finally stopped having to get my jeans altered. Perfect length for me now!

borlottibeans · 12/09/2018 22:08

Holiday those ARE beautiful socks. Where are they from?

I've just moved to rural Scotland and we're going into autumn; like fuck am I going outside with bits of limb exposed.

BunsOfAnarchy · 12/09/2018 22:20

I agree. Its like nails om a chalkboard for me! At home i wear socks over the leg of my joggers/leggings. Sexy i know. Ankle freeze is a serious condition Grin

@Holidayfromreal i must must MUST know where your fine choice of enviable sockwear is from!

BackforGood · 12/09/2018 22:36

YANBU to want to stay warm.

Y A BU to somehow imply you have to dress the same as a model in a magazine Hmm

I was watching a rugby match at the weekend. It was quite cold. There were 2 or 3 young girls with the look you describe. They were cold. Normal people had their socks on. They were fine.

soulrider · 13/09/2018 20:06

YANBU

Finding full length trousers suitable for work was impossible when I was looking earlier this year, i was hoping that the colder weather would change that but it doesn't seem to be the case so far.
