Did anyone use the forum ‘The Deadwood’

I used to use it a while ago and just logged on and it seems to be dead. What happened? Anyone know.

Yes - the website dwindled, but there is a very active Deadwood Facebook group.

I know what happened but if I tell you I would have to kill you.

I used to be on that and it was a great forum. Then my password wouldn’t work and they couldn’t work out how to re set it and I gave up with it.

I was on there too as mariets, then I left. I logged back on, only to find it's totally dead.

I was on there from the start, after the break with the other website I won't name! But then I had a social media break, forgot about it and when I looked again a long time later it seemed very quiet. I miss that community, it was small enough that you got to know people but large enough then at least to stay interesting.

I was thinking about it just the other day when I noticed someone here with the same, unusual username as someone from there.

If you knew people from both places you will probably have some friends on Facebook from there and should be able to track the group down.

If you have FB friends from either DW or the other site then you can always contact them and ask to be added to the group. The community is still around :)

Yeah I was on there. I was on the Facebook group too but left. Almost everyone is lovely but a couple of vicious ones made it not worthwhile. It's worse now it's Facebook somehow. I miss so many of those folk though.

Vicious? Really? Never found that myself. Forthright but not vicious in my opinion x

I was on there and very fond of it - they helped me through some incredibly tough times and will always be indebted to it and the people on it.

After life got better, I stepped away as I felt it reminded me of the worst of times and I generally took a break from my life online. I had a look not that long ago and it seemed incredibly quiet with barely anyone still there. So I'm not surprised it has finally succumbed but also very sad that it has.

I'm really curious, what was it and what was it for?

It was a forum for lumberjacks Medea and generally used for trading large saws, excess sawdust and talking about wood supply chains.

medea Just a chat forum like this but smaller. It started as a weddding forum which is how I came to be on it and it had a baby section etc. You really got to know posters and followed their lives through marriage, children etc.

nicky must be confused with netmums. Deadwood was for woodwork and wood related career folk.
