I don’t think I like zoflora!

😂. Heard on here how amazing it is and how people use it for everything so I got some. Fresh linen scented. I’ve used it down the sinks and diluted some and have cleaned my skirting boards downstairs and door frames. It reeks. So strong. Have got the windows open and hoping the smell fades away. I was really hoping for a lovely fresh scent too. 😂

Zoflora is evil.
It stinks.
It doesn't fade away.
It gives me headaches.
It is like those foul reed diffuser poisons that take the fur and skin off pets.
It is an irritant, containing geraniol and citranellol which cause skin irritations and headaches in some people.
It is for people who have had their sense of smell destroyed by using it and need something horrendously strong before they can smell it.
Chemicals that are no good for the water supply.

Bluntness100 · 13/09/2018 07:29

I remember zoflora as a child, it's been about for a very long time, and it wasn't nicer then, genuinely. It's always been a cheap harsh chemical smell.

But the bottom line is it's s discinfectant and people should not use it like some form of air freshener. It's really not healthy. It's not a cleaner either, it's a disinfectant.

Doilooklikeatourist · 13/09/2018 07:34

I like Zoflora , the Lavender is nice , not sure about Twilight Gareden
I’ve got a Peach one , a bit scary 🤢
Dettol do a lavender and orange ( I think ) liquid , which is not so strong ( understatement )

Miladymilord · 13/09/2018 07:41

Honestly, it's very concentrated, you need a few drops. People saying it's destroyed their sense of smell aren't using it properly. I put a drop, literally a drop, on my hoover filter and it makes everything smell nice while I hoover.

Yes, it's a disinfectant not an actual perfume!

Roomba · 13/09/2018 07:58

I use it to disinfect stuff, so a couple of drops in a bucket wouldn't really do the job, would it? I find most of the scents appallingly strong and sickly, but I got a bit obsessed with the Winter Morning one last year. I ended up buying enough bottles to last all year so I didn't run out after they stopped doing it. I also don't mind the apple one, but it gets a bit sickly if I use it too much. I loved the Warm Cinnamon one when I first got it, but after a week the smell just made me feel sick.

Roomba · 13/09/2018 07:59

I rather like the smell of Jeyes Fluid though... Blush

ALittleCheruby · 13/09/2018 09:09

The Lavender one is the best.

The lavender escape is the worst!

TotHappy · 13/09/2018 09:22

We'll wait, what are people using disinfectants for? What do you disinfectants?

I clean my wood floors with CIF wood floor cleaner diluted in water. And skirtings. I clean my wood furniture with spray polish. I clean my carpets and upholstery LL holsters with a hoover. I clean my windows and mirrors with a glass spray. I scrub the kitchen and utility floors with Tesco basic pine disinfectants diluted with water. And everything else - kitchen surfaces, all parts of bathroom including floor, sinks, chopping boards, high chair - I clean with Tesco 'all purpose anti bac spray'. I've never been one to disinfect doorknobs, light switches etc but if I was I guess I'd use it there too.
So... Which of these jobs are people using Zoflora for? I suppose the kitchen floor could be a Zoflora moment...

FatimaLovesBread · 13/09/2018 09:23

I work where Zoflora is made, it deffo depends on the smell. Linen fresh is like aftershave. Love the pink grapefruit onw

TotHappy · 13/09/2018 09:23

Scuse typos

TheLastNigel · 13/09/2018 09:24

I've just got the peach one but as I've had a chest infections and s cold for three very looong weeks now, I can't smell a bloody thing!
Previous to that however I loved the lavender one and the Spring flowers...

BloodyDisgrace · 13/09/2018 09:25

I got the same scent, it's ok, I find it rather nice. I use it to wash the laminate floors but have to wipe with clean water as I fear it might be bad for cats if they lick their paws.

Does anyone know the correct way to use it when you have pets?

CasparMum · 13/09/2018 09:50

I love Zoflora
But I also love Jeyes fluid and bleach smells so I probably have a damaged sense of smell (and I nearly broke a toilet with my experiments with cleaning products and disinfectants).

firehousedog1 · 13/09/2018 14:55

I loved zoflora when the craze first happened last year or the year before that, used it all over the place, but its rhubarb method all the way for me now. I do still buy zoflora, not overly bothered which fragrance these days, only to use to disinfect the dish cloths and sponges overnight in the kitchen sink. Oh and I use it in the mop bucket for the floors. That's it though.

ChiaraRimini · 13/09/2018 15:05

Zoflora and Stardrops have been cult products on the MSE forums for at least 10 years.
It's all a big con IMHO and I hate the overwhelming smell of these chemicals . I use as few products as possible. Fairy liquid for washing up, cleaning kitchen surfaces and mopping floors.
Dust with a damp cloth or feather duster. (Polish is not recommended on modern varnished wood)
Cillit bang, limescale remover and toilet cleaner for the bathroom and that's it.
I might set up as Mrs Grinch on insta but would never make any money.

Miladymilord · 13/09/2018 15:10

I clean absolutely everything with hot water, a squize of fairy and a few drops of zoflora. Depending on the surface, I a damp cloth or a wet cloth.

firehousedog1 · 13/09/2018 15:15

There is someone on Instagram actually who has one of those germ counter gadget things they had on obsessive compulsive cleaners tv programme and zoflora is not actually that great at germ kill.

Miladymilord · 13/09/2018 15:15

I only use it for the smell. I don't really care about germs.

firehousedog1 · 13/09/2018 15:20

Why don't you just get some form of air freshner then like wax melts?

Miladymilord · 13/09/2018 15:23

I have scented candles for that. I just like a nice smell while I'm cleaning, it doesn't have to last all day!

BellBookandCandle · 13/09/2018 15:33

@MrsMozart - there is a pet zoflora - specially for eliminating pet smells - works well but I prefer some of the other scents.

Bluntness100 · 13/09/2018 15:35

Zoflora isn't an air freshener and shouldn't be used as such, that's daft.

Plenty of products have great smells, try the method ones. They smell of things like grapefruit and are lovely, and they are actually cleaning products.

HowCanThisBeRight · 13/09/2018 15:36

I haven't brought it since I asked dp to put a bit in the bucket with some flash when he mopped. Walked in nearly chocked.
He's only put the entire bottle in and it was the larger bottle..

TheEmmaDilemma · 13/09/2018 15:44

I use it diluted in a spray gun on furniture and curtains to take away pet smells. I use it on floors when I mop along with a little fairy liquid.

Kittykat93 · 13/09/2018 17:41

In all seriousness - what should I be using zoflora on? Only brought some the other day as people were raving about it but haven't used it yet. But as it's a disinfectant and not a cleaner I'm guessing I shouldn't be using it on kitchen sides etc regularly
