sports shop shocking customer service RANT

bought a pair ofg imline skates this am- brought them home excited thinking I'd have a go at skating with the kids- give them a good laugh!!
found liner missing
brought them back-
suggested by the manager that I had removed the liner!!! that although I didn't look like a thief ( digs the hole deeper) that this was what it was like in retail!!
He condescended to exchange but they didn't have the same size, i picked another skate which was 50p cheaper and he refused to refund thison my credit card and sent me off with a credit note- despite the fact I argued that they had sold faulty goods and they were breaking the sale of goods act.
i feel humiliated angry and completely exhausted after this, as feel i have been called a liar and in fact inferred a thief??

I did wonder what he thought I had to gain by making more than 1 trip to his fabulous establishment, any ideas anyone?

You should write to their head office and complain.

hi friendly, i hate shops like this! was this a large retail outlet? a letter to head office would be my first port of call and do it while your angry....thinking of it you could always 'name and shame' them in this post!!

You are entitled to a refund as the goods were faulty. And how dare he call you a liar? Do write to head office.

yes my thoughts after the hands had stopped shaking. I sent a mrs angry email to the customer services head office, and will send copy also via post suggesting defamation of character etc

it is a large outlet that advertises all the time, and does on-line sales and has a football in the middle of the logo.
They sell cheapish stuff, but one can do without the abuse.
Feel much better now after my rant and offload!

i find that putting the words 'trading standards' in a letter of complaint tends to yield better results

Just fired one off to trading standards and cc them in!!
I'm on a ranting roll- don't cross a premenstrual woman!!

"I'd be grateful if you'd read the following email I have sent to Sports World regarding an incident at their Lewisham store.

I believe that under the Sales of Goods Act that if an item is faulty that they cannot refuse to refund money, and the skates that were sold were incomplete and therefore unfit for purpose."
