AIBU about rape crisis waiting times?

I know everything is underfunded and people are waiting months on the NHS for crisis treatment but I'm still shocked to have just been told that the waiting time for rape counselling in my area is 8 months.

It's not the providers fault - but we place such a low value in society on women's mental health - it just makes me so angry and sad for women

That is shocking.

You can contact the helpline but then you may not get to speak to the same person twice - and you have to psych yourself up to then not get through

YANBU. Mine was 6 months, and I ended up not taking it in the end - by the time my appointment came around I'd moved, and would have had to have gone through the whole process again. Thanks to you, my lovely. We'll get there.
