To think this is cruel?

Just saw something about sugar gliders and started researching. These little creatures are adorable! But isn't it kind of cruel to keep them in captivity?

I have to admit I feel that way about any animal that isnt a cat or dog. Both cats and dogs have evolved and been bred to live naturally alongside us.

But even things like hamsters, mice, fish, rats, snakes, rabbits and now these sigar gliders - isnt keeping them kind of cruel in the sense that its one sided: the animal would be better off in the wild?
What do you think?

I don't think that exotic animals make suitable pets for the majority of owners. On social media, I've seen people try to keep small cats such as serval and lynx as pets. Its ridiculous. They cant meet the animals behavioural needs.

We have these in the (large) bushes in our backyard. Occasionally in summer we creep down, shine a torch and watch them fly through the bushes in response to being disturbed. We generally only do it when we have visitors that have never seen them before. We also shine a torch on a tree and watch the possums go.

YANBU, they should not be kept in captivity, it is not right.
