Child reaching 16

Hi,
My daughter has just turned 16 and left school. Due to years of anxiety she will not attend college or stay in education, as my child benefit will now stop my ex has said he is stopping maintenance.
I have spoken to csa and they said if she's not working and cannot claim benefits until she's 18 she's still classed as a child, he won't have any of it and has said he is not paying anymore.
I pay her phone and give pocket money with his money and he doesn't give her any other money, how can this be fair and be on the absent parents side, I would love to take this to parliament to change the law AIBU?

Why can't she get a job or an apprenticeship?

Sparklesocks · 10/09/2018 22:01

That’s really bad of him, but also what will your daughter do now if she’s not in education or getting a job?

ilovesooty · 10/09/2018 22:03

She has to be in education or some form of training until she is 18.

It's not up to him is it - take him to court/CSA

KanielOutis · 10/09/2018 22:04

This is a day you knew was coming. Maybe sooner than you hoped, but have you made any plans for when the money will stop? It can't have come as a surprise.

Meant to add if CSA still class her as a child it surely isn't up to him?

NewYearNewMe18 · 10/09/2018 22:05

Is there an option to 'home ed' her from 16 to 18 ?
Does he even bother to attend parent evenings?

She can do unpaid voluntary work

What does your DD want to do ?

Babyroobs · 10/09/2018 22:41

Your dd needs to either be in education and then his CM would continue or she needs to look for a job and pay her way/ In some circumstances she may be able to get benefits. I think if she is registered with a careers service you may be able to continue getting CB.
