To ask about daily 'phantom kicks' after negative hpt

Does anyone else get this?
For the last three weeks I have been feeling what is just like a baby kicking. I can feel it with my hand, and I can actually see my stomach move.
It happens multiple times every day for a few minutes at a time. There was virtually no chance of pregnancy due to having a mirena PLUS using condoms, but just in case I've done 3 pregnancy tests in the last week, all negative.

What on earth is it? I know someone will say "gas" but I'm not anymore gassy than normal, and why would it suddenly be happening all the time when it's never happened in my life before?

It is gas though. Really common, although not a constant.

You’d only have visible kicks if you were a few months pregnant and you’d have a lot more symptoms than this. If it isn’t gas (probably), it’s muscle spasms of some kind.

I think I would go for a check up. It's probably gas moving about but being able to feel it with a hand would concern me. Main artery in the stomach can feel like baby kicks when it's not happy.

I had this a lot between my pregnancies, and it felt exactly like a baby. It absolutely wasn't though! I don't know if it was just gas or what, but it wasn't a problem.

MrsStrowman · 10/09/2018 13:17

Most people don't feel kicks until around twenty weeks how pregnant do you think you are?

Drummingisfun · 10/09/2018 13:34

Mrsstrowman I don't think I'm pregnant, in fact I know I'm not because I've had three negative tests. I felt kicks in my previous pregnancies from about 18 weeks, which is why I panicked and tested 3 times to be sure. I have no plans whatsoever for another baby, so it would be a huge shock if I were pregnant.

I had two negatives with this pregnancy, if you're not potentially around the eighteen week plus mark (by LMP) I agree with PPs it's gas

It’s wind. It’s only once you’ve been pregnant that you realise how similar baby kicks and digestive gurglings can feel!

I have a floating rib which feels a bit like this, but only happens occasionally. For instance, occasionally if I have bent down to the my shoelace, the floating rib jerks about. If I stretch up it goes back into place.

Could be wind, but I would suggest going to your provider and getting an ultrasound to check.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall hearing or reading somewhere that pregnancy tests taken later in pregnancy may show a false negative because hCG levels go down later in pregnancy.
