To get a kitten?

DH and I are thinking of getting a Russian Blue kitten. We have our heart set on Russian Blues. They're the reason we want a cat! We've looked into adopting, but there aren't any in the local shelters.

The only issue is that we both work full time and are usually out of the house 8-5 Mon-Fri. Is this too long for a 10 week old kitten? I'm thinking of paying someone to go in once a day for an hour or two for a couple of months. Would that work?

We've never owed a cat before so we're pretty clueless!

I've never had an issue leaving cats alone all day, though I usually have two. Currently typing with two moggy kittens on my lap, and I'm hoping they will grow out of climbing the curtains soon Grin.

Russian Blues look lovely - I fell for Maine Coons, and have been hoovering up hair ever since, There seem to be a lot of kitten threads on The Litter Tray topic on here if that helps.

Russian Blues are gorgeous but very intelligent and need lots of stimulation. I suspect a good breeder would not sell you one to leave at home all day. However two would be an option if you could afford it. If you're in the uk go on the GCCF website and look for breeders. They will be able to talk to you more in depth. Good Luck, they're an amazing cat 🐈

I would also recommend that you get two if you are going to be out all day.
We adopted moggy brothers two months ago (age 12 weeks when we got them) and they're lovely and crazy and fun!
