Who told my kids today about our haunted house and how nobody else wants to live there

It isn’t bloody haunted obviously. I’ve lived here for 6 years and not one woo thing has happened. I had heard the stories before I moved in but I don’t believe in ghosts so ignored them.

Went to the pub today for lunch and kids were in the beer garden playing for 30 mins.

I went out to check on them and village elder was regaling them with all the stories about our house and other villagers nodding along and saying oh remember when so and so said this and saw that.

DS 8 now bloody terrified and refusing to go upstairs on his own. I’ve told them quite firmly what nonsense it is, we’ve lived here for years and nothing has ever happened to make us think the house is haunted ffs

Maybe don't strangle him just give him a telling off!

I'd probably be pissed off but then again in 5 years time they'll laugh so much about the weird old man who convinced them the house was haunted.

Plus his fear probably won't last more than a week.

We had this when we were kids! Old chap who had a shop down the road and kept telling us our house was haunted. I remember my dad telling him to piss off once, possibly the highlight of my childhood. My dm still lives in the house and the man is still as old as I remember him always being so we’ve all come to the conclusion that he is actually the ghost.

For god's sake don't strangle him OP. He'll probably come back and haunt you and then you really will have a haunted house.

Don't strangle him though. He will add another ghost to your house as he will clearly haunt you.

He is playing the long game. He does not really approve of children in pubs and is trying to scare them off. It is your duty as a villager, OP, to make sure you visit the pub with your DCs twice on weekend an possibly Friday evening as well.
