Crappy holiday

Not sure it's an AIBU
... But - booked a long awaited holiday with ds 3 and dd 1. Chose ibiza, never been before. The weather is pants, ds wants to go home. Had a huge fall out with dh, the food sucks, lost a diamond out of my engagement ring and now discussing our next holiday to get over the disappointment of this one. I'm a whinge bag, but ibiza sucks not rocks

Would hiring a car and getting out & about improve it? You could also escape the crappy food. I agree it’s disappointing though. We had crappy weather in the canaries this year.

I feel your pain. My honeymoon was in a hot place that had its worst rainfall in a decade. There was nothing to do and we ended spending a lot of it watching TV in our apartment which was one of the few not affected by leaking roofs.

It's one thing having a rainy holiday in say Scotland, there are plenty of back up activities but not so much in hot places.

Birdsgottafly · 09/09/2018 12:08

My DD was looking at holidays, with the same age children that you have and sent me links to Ibiza.

There are much better destinations for young families, some just outside of Malaga (if you wanted the odd night out).

Did you research it before you went?

We are considering pirate Island, it's a holiday around the children, but with places to visit, that will interest everyone.

What a shame, Ibiza is a beautiful island. We took my dd when she was a toddler and we had a car and really explored. Although if the weather is crap it ruins it a bit doesn't it.

Hope it stops raining OP.

Sympathise completely.

We were unfortunate enough to attend a wedding in Cyprus last year during their worst rainfall for years. We were there for a week and had ONE nice day. The worst part is that in a lot of these resorts, everything is designed for the sunshine so there is nothing to do when it rains.

Second the idea about getting a car and going out, or having a look at things to do in the area on TripAdvsior.

GimmeBread · 09/09/2018 12:34

My sympathies too. I felt exactly the same when we went to Ibiza. After 2 days I wanted to go home. I hated it. Don't know why!

Oneandoneontheway · 09/09/2018 13:42

Thanks for the sympathies folks! I'm just going to concentrate on having the family around me! May look at the car hire later, I'm assuming they will have car seats! Onwards and upwards Smile

I’m sure they’ll have car seats, I went with my DS when he was 1.
From memory in the car we went to Ibiza town, portinax (it was sunny though), Santa Eulalia, for lunch and a walk up & down the front, and explored San Antonio then the marina / harbour. It was interesting to see the inland bits of the island away from touristy places. 👍🏻

We had a great time in Ibiza last September with our DD who was 18 months. Sorry that you aren’t.

I went to Lanzarote for a long awaited and anticipated winter holiday.
It was freezing cold. The very small pool was unheated and it was in shadow all day.
I should have brought a hot water bottle.
Sad
I never went again.

Mumminmum · 09/09/2018 16:42

what about going to see the Can Marca caves? The weather can't bother you in there.
