I am a SAHM, have been for 3 years. My DCs (4 and 2) start school/ part time nursery next week. A really interesting job has been advertised - Its local, part time and offering entry into an area of my field which I have always wanted to get into.

DH is freelance and his work is becoming more and more off and on (more off than on to be honest) which I find stressful. He is currently job hunting. Despite this he still currently earns around 5 times as much as I would in this job. His job therefore has to take priority.

We have no local family to help with childcare. DC2 will be at nursery for 15 hours and there is no wrap around care available until they are 3. When DH has work he has to be flexible and is at the whim of his clients, making it hard for him to commit to pick ups, drop off and childcare. I have not been able to find a childminder who does pick ups drop off for this school ( it has a great wrap around service once the DCs are 3-4...)

I had intended to wait another year or so before returning to work and have a long term creative project that I want to finish before going back. But I also crave some financial independence (although we have a very equal sharing if finances) I want to start building up my own pension and, to be honest, I am bored of being at home.

Apply for the job and worry about the logistics if it is offered to you Smile. At this stage, I think you should be viewing it as application/interview practice.
