Chatting on phone on the loo

I went in the loos at work and some woman was having a conversation in the cubicle next door in the loo cubicle. Next thing I hear she is flushing the loo while still carrying on conversation and then struggling to wash hands and then put the hand drier on whilst continuing a trivial conversation to a friend. I was a bit aghast this conversation couldn't take place a couple of minutes later when she had done her business. Is it me? AIBU??

I find that really gross too.

Really disgusting. Shows how being online at all times has taken over common sense (and decency).

I didn't know if it was me or not? I thought it was gross too. Imagine being on the phone and then you hear the flush!! 😫

I have done this with dh, dm and one best friend. We weren't video chatting 😆

Its horrible being on the other end of that phone call. Unless its heralded at the start you might get some inkling from the accoustics .Then a suspicious watery sound and then the flush that confirms the fears. Had it several times and was very Envy (not jealous) .

I work in a call centre.

When I was a late teen/early twenties girls went to the loo together. It was what we DID on a night out. We both/all needed to wee and wanted to catch up on how our nights our were going.

This was pre-mobiles.

Sometimes, if the conversation merited it, we didn't shut the toilet door.

I get the ick if the conversation isn't with a close friend, but I don't if it is!

Is that what's known as multitasking? Grin

Fifthtimelucky · 08/09/2018 07:08

I wouldn't do it at work but often do it at home when talking to my sister. When we talk on the phone (which isn't that often) we usually chat for an hour or so and it is common for one of us to go to the loo during the call.

If you are not allowed to take calls at work, it might be a sneaky way of using your phone without getting a bollocking or being grassed on.

I’d rather take a call in the loo than have one of my superior, sneaky colleagues giving me the “I’ve got you” look.

I think it's generational - to the extent of what age you were when you first had a mobile. I was in my 30s.

I wouldn't dream of making a phone call from the loo.

DD does it all the time.

Some hotel rooms have phones installed next to the WC. It makes me gag - just think of all the shit-covered hands that have used the handset. Grim.
