Alternatives to centre parcs

We're at centre parcs at the moment for the first time and a bit underwhelmed. We didn't book or pay for it so absolutely not complaining - but we we expecting something that felt a bit less like a (nice) premier inn/fairly generic home to sleep in. It's very nice (hot tub, sauna, etc) I think our expectations were just different.

The real question: anyone know of any nice alternatives? Doesn't have to be as child friendly as centre parcs, or in the UK for that matter, but somewhere forest-y, quite nice (we love having a sauna but really don't need one, or a hot tub, in our accommodation - but having something on site would be nice) and fairly luxurious. Aka not just a hut in the trees but something a bit less commercial/mass produced FEELING would be great. Budget isn't a factor as this is something DH And I would like to do together as a treat for a weekend. We hoped centre parcs would be our easy answer but no (we appreciate we might just not be in the right accommodation for us here).

Would love some advice, or AIBU to ask?

If you don't need the resort aspect then I would find somewhere gorgeous on here:

If budget really isn't an issue then treehouse at Chewton Glen!

Have a look at the Stars and Canopies website. It's full of gorgeous stuff.

Thanks everyone! Those who recommended tree houses - absolutely amazing! Ravendere looks like exactly what we're after! Thanks again

Stay at the Spa hotel at Ribby Hall OP. The rest of the park is v family oriented but the adult pool (separate from the spa) and the gym are amazing. Plenty of outdoor adventures to be had nearby too.

Dovestone holiday park just east of Manchester

On airbnb there are loads if gorgeous houses with a hot tub and pool (some have other features like sauna etc). They don't have the resort aspect like CP, like being able to book activities, restaurants on site etc. But it sounds like you're not too fussed about that anyway.

We stayed at Gitcombe Farm in Devon which was gorgeous, in a lovely location and with pool and hot tub on site. We also stayed at one in Somerset called Pictureworks which had a spa in the house and a shared pool with 2 other houses.

If you are in the accomodation with sauna and hot tub that is probably the top end accommodation at center parcs, so you probably won't find something you like better there.

Great, enjoy!
