Saw a bid listing for a mirror, listing stated that more than one was available. I messaged to ask that i would like a pair so if I won could I purchase 2 at the bid price each.

They confirmed this. I bid and won. Item was local so contacted to arrange collection (cash on delivery).

Seller then messages they only have one mirror. I respond to say I am terribly sorry but will leave it as I was under the impression I could purchase a pair but thanks.

They replied calling me rude etc and that someone else was interested and they turned them away and not to waste people's time!!

YABU to request the seller to sell you an extra mirror off-eBay. You should have asked them to list the other mirror separately for you to bid on it. You should not have bid on a single-mirror auction if you didn't want to buy a single mirror.

YANBU

You asked if you could have two, they said yes and then admitted they didn’t
