To be really annoyed at someone I've never met?!

DP was supposed to be going out with an old work colleague tonight. She really doesn't have friends and this was the first time in a long time she has had plans.

They arranged just one week ago and he was coming to the house to pick her up.

She s spend the day getting ready and done her hair and makeup (She never does this, I'm only pointing it out to emphasise that she was really looking forwards to going out to dinner and being a grown up again!)

So she txt the guy to confirm what time he is getting here and he says

"Shit. I'm in work. I forgot"

That's so rude isn't it? I feel really sad now for her. She said "THIS is why I don't have friends" :(

Can you take her out for the evening for a nice meal or something?

That's crap and he doesn't sound like a good friend. Any chance of a last minute babysitter and you go out together? Otherwise treat yourselves to a bottle of wine and a takeaway. I assume from your "grown up" comment she is a sahm? Could she try and meet some new mum friends who will be equally as excited about a night out?

We are child free tomorrow night so will do something then but still feels really crap.

She's been off work sick for over 12 months and moved from miles away so hasn't really met any new mates. It's a confidence and illness thing
