To hate new baby announcement cards / texts...

...with graphic photos? I received another today from a friend who had a water birth and the photo is of her holding the baby presumably very soon after the birth. Both naked and covered in blood etc...yuck! I have had a number of text announcements recently of the same kind.

I'm not a prude and don't mind nakedness in general but I am squeamish and don't particularly want to see shots of new babies / mums covered in birth gunk! Too much information!

AIBU to find these cards and texts revolting?!!

YANBU. I can completely understand why parents would want to have a photo like that for themselves but I think it's a shame that nothing is private anymore. Social media has led to 'oversharing' being normalised for a lot of people.

YABU. It's not gunk, it's not revolting, it's how pretty much every person entering the world arrived.

I'm with you OP. Revolting and really tacky. Some people don't seem to consider anything private anymore

In Ben Elton’s novel Blind Faith, about a future in which the desire for privacy has come to be seen as a perversion, everyone is expected to post videos of their children being born on Facebook. It’s not seeming quite as far fetched now.
