To see a doctor for this?

I know it's pathetic, I know.
The other night in bed my leg was really itching and that's about the long and short of it. Nothing else happened to it.
Just noticed as I got changed it's now got a bruise around a little dot ?
BF is absolutely insisting I need to go to hospital tonight or make an appointment at gp for tomorrow morning but it isn't hurting me or causing me any discomfort whatsoever? It's just strange.
Anyone ever seen anything like it? Just mainly for his peace of mind that I'm not dying and definitely don't need medical treatment on an urgent basis 😂

Do you have any flu like symptoms?

Tasha32 · 05/09/2018 21:24

Have you been bitten as it looks like a bite Mark? Defo see your GP

JellieEllie · 05/09/2018 21:25

Not at all. Had a bit of a headache yesterday due to tiredness but feeling completely normal and well within myself 😊

If you google ‘deer tick bite’ there are photos that look very like that. So obviously it could be something else but I would get it checked tomorrow, and go to A&E if you cannot get a doc’s appointment.

QuestionableMouse · 05/09/2018 21:27

You've been bitten by something. As long as you feel well and it's not getting worse I'd leave it for a couple more days and see what happens. Of course,if you start feeling ill or it goes manky, get seen.

JellieEllie · 05/09/2018 21:31

Sounds like it's just a bite then. (Anyone would think I'd had my leg cut off the way he's been going on at me)
Thanks everyone I'll leave it for a couple days and hope it just goes away, unless it does get worse in which case I'll go see the doctor.

Get it checked out OP just in case.

Could have been a tick? Lots of them carry Lyme disease. Always worth a check?

butlerswharf · 05/09/2018 21:36

Not for a&e as it's neither an accident nor an emergency. But see your gp if you're concerned. It really does look like a bite. Especially given the itching at the time.

Polarbearflavour · 05/09/2018 21:36

Looks like a tick bite but in the UK, GPs don’t take Lyme disease seriously.

If you get flu like symptoms you must go to a GP and get antibiotics and a blood test.

Lucked · 05/09/2018 21:37

I think it is a sting. There is no way I would see a doctor for that.

tommypie · 05/09/2018 21:42

I had something very similar on my leg a couple of weeks back. Just figured I got bitten by something. Certainly wouldn't have gone to a hospital or seen a GP for it, with no other symptoms.

JockTamsonsBairns · 05/09/2018 21:44

Could you pop into a pharmacist for advice?

DesmondSwayne · 05/09/2018 21:46

I would watch that mark around it carefully - if it turns into a red bulls eye pattern then that's an indicator of Lyme disease.

Read up on Lyme disease, and the things to look out for. If you get any of the symptoms then go to the gp immediately

LizzieSiddal · 05/09/2018 21:49

I’d go and see a pharmacist.

I don’t think it’s a tick bite as it’s usally a red ring around a tick bite.

MajesticWhine · 05/09/2018 22:09

I would not see a doctor for that. I had some bites which didn't clear up and I checked it with a pharmacist.

garethsouthgatesmrs · 05/09/2018 22:13

I would second a pharmacist. They will tell you if you need to see a GP.

lemonsorbetinthesun · 05/09/2018 22:37

Have you tired taking any antihistamines?

Maursh · 05/09/2018 22:46

That bullseye marking is symptomatic of lyme's (from a tick ). Go see your GP while you still have the rash otherwise it might be difficult to get diagnosed. You can also buy a home-testing kit here, for example for a tenner

QuestionableMouse · 05/09/2018 23:35

It isn't a bullseye rash.

JellieEllie · 05/09/2018 23:40

Thank you everyone.
No definitely no other symptoms, feeling healthy and well in myself.
I think it must be a bite, i must have nice tasting blood as looks like it's sucked the hell out of it! But I do agree it's not something I would have sought medical help for it's just my BF likes to panic and over worry about everyyything.
If indeed it does seem to get sore or worse then I will go and have it looked at by a pharmacist and take advice from them but thank you for the advice you have all given me. Helped a lot :)

That's not a bullseye rash.

I wouldn't be remotely bothered by that. If you must see someone, the pharmacist will do.

UterusUterusGhali · 05/09/2018 23:59

Put a bit of Savlon on it.

See pharmacist if you're really worried.

Tartsamazeballs · 06/09/2018 03:56

Bullseye rash is red, that looks more like a raised bruise. I'd guess at a horsefly bite myself, they're insanely itchy and swell a bit.

Draw a biro line round it to check swelling is going down, and as long as there's no red lines leading away from the bite you'll be fine.

Here's one.... goo.gl/images/H5u9XW
