Aibu regarding notice period

I’m handing my notice in tomorrow to take effect from the 07/09/10 and have given a months notice (30 days) so it will terminate on the 06/10/2018.

A bit of background my contract says I only should give one weeks notice b cause I’ve been there less than four years and it states between 4 months to 4 years notice required one week.

My manager is saying it’s one month and I cannot deal with any arguing atm. My grandad is now on end of life care and I need a smooth transition.

So I guess Aibu With the dates it is it correct ?

Is it one week for each year you’ve worked?

Hold on, aren’t you giving a month anyway? I’m confused. Is this over 1 day?

melonposies12 · 05/09/2018 20:47

It is one week for each year in my contract but my manager is denying that and wants a month so I just want to give them a month to stop any hassle or harrassment from them. Just wasn’t sure if those dates are correct

I would retract the original resignation. Photocopy the contract, highlight the relevant bit about giving a week’s notice, add in the standard resignation letter. Done.

He can ask for what he likes but you only need to give him what's in your contract.
