Mountain warehouse

I am a very out doorsy person, love travelling, exploring, hiking and running. Love going in camping shops for kit etc.

I saw a lovely t shirt in the window of mountain warehouse, map of the world on it with the caption "I haven't been everywhere, but its on my list". Loved it so went to find it in the women's section. Didn't exist. Had a look in men's and there it was. Along with a fab 3 peaks one and a multitude of adventure type theme ones, mountains, forests etc.

Looking in the women's section, I shit you not (other than a fitted purple 3 peaks one) I could not find an equivalent!! I did find a particularly lovely one that said "feet up, kettle on" though.

I looked online and they do do a few but overall, it seems only men can aspire to the adventuring!!and yes of course i can wear a men's t-shirt if i wish (i don't like the high necks, always cut them off)

Anyway, aibu to be slightly surprised at the difference? This is light hearted, I'm not losing sleep over it i had to settle for a bottle with the picture and caption I liked in the end

Ha! YANBU. Honestly the low opinion some men have of us!

50Running50 · 05/09/2018 18:48

I'd buy the men's! Surely it's unisex anyway

Veterinari · 05/09/2018 18:52

Yeah it’s crap. Plus the over-prevalence of pink in women’s Outdoor gear and the total lack of decent pockets cos we’re female

It’s crap Hmm

MsFrizzle · 05/09/2018 18:58

Just curious, but...why not get the men's? I wear Primark men's shirts all the time because the fandom-y stuff is often a much better and more interesting selection, plus the fit is a bit looser which is nice when I'm a fatass trying to lose weight.

it's a bit naff, but if you wanted it why not get it?

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2018 18:58

OTOH, I like Mountain Warehouse for its children's footwear - very few styles specified as 'girls', mostly just 'kids' in a range of colours.

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 05/09/2018 19:00

Why didnt you just buy the T-shirt you liked? Confused

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 05/09/2018 19:00

When I worked in outdoor retail it was a shit fest of "girlie" colours. I'm a pink wearing girlie girl but I was disgusted by the lack of choice.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/09/2018 19:01

Men's sizes in tshirts are nearly always way too big for me except for use as nightwear, way too long for a 5'1" person.

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/09/2018 19:02

Yanbu.

(OP has stated that she doesn't like men t-shirt neckline on her and cuts them off)

Popfan · 05/09/2018 19:03

I love MW for the children's clothes!

DannyWallace · 05/09/2018 19:20

Yes yes yes!
I can remember DH and I trying to find shorts to wear mountain biking (this was on holiday in another country but it's similar here).
DH has loads of options, sizes, colours etc, but unless I went online I could only buy pretty denim very short shorts.
I actually got so pissed off I asked the shop assistant if they sold active clothes for women that you don't need a Brazilian to wear 😂😂

Notquiteagandt · 05/09/2018 19:36

You need to look at the fb groups gear4outdoors women and various other groups full of people having simular complaints.

Why are womens outdoors clothes always bloody teal or purple 😡

serbska · 05/09/2018 19:39

Plus the over-prevalence of pink in women’s Outdoor gear and the total lack of decent pockets cos we’re female

I actually really like the fact you can get pink / purple / sky blue outdoor wear now! Used to be so sick of black, navy or red.

operaha · 05/09/2018 21:10

I didn't buy the men's version because I want a skinny fit without a high neck! I would wear a man shaped t shirt in bed with the neck thingy cut off but not out.

Like I said, trying to be a bit light hearted, off to click the etsy link posted above!!

Sleepismysuperpower- I'd not got round to googling for alternatives to the MH one, some gorgeous ones you've linked to, will delve through. Love the green one but not keen on the shipping Grin

operaha · 05/09/2018 21:20

think you can set filters that only show up the ones from uk, so shipping will be a bit less x hoping you find one you like!

operaha · 06/09/2018 19:06

Sleepismysuperpower

Would you believe the only one that is uk based is a men's shape t-shirt Hmm

omg, that's awful! i have found one that ships from the states, but the shipping isn't too bad. i think its about the same cost as some t-shirts alone here in the uk!
