To ask what this could be?

I had my gallbladder out 3 years ago.

For the last year I've had pain that comes and goes from under my right rib cage and also chest pains that radiate to my back (all in the centre or right handside).

This weekend my stomach above my belly button and right handside feels hard, swollen and tender. I am sore when I breathe in in this area (stomach, under ribs and above belly button, not lower down and not my chest). I am sore when I hiccup, cough, bend or even drive over speed bumps. I cannot lie on this side of my stomach without being uncomfortable.

I am not doubled over in pain but I am uncomfortable. Any suggestions what this could be? I will see my GP tomorrow.

I’ve heard of people having issues with their bile ducts after having their gallbladder out - no idea whether your symptoms would match up with it though. Might be worth a look at the nhs website.

Is it getting worse? My aunt had pancreatitis which started as you describe. It got worse over a period of weeks until she was blue-lighted to hospital.

I would definitely see the doctor tomorrow before anything becomes more serious.

Sounds like it could be bile leaking into the abdomen. I had it quite a lot the year after my gallbladder was removed then it resolved spontaneously. Felt like a milder form of the gallstones pain.
