Lumps under each armpit

Yesterday I had a lump under one arm, now I have one under each. Arms ache when I move them. Feeling fit and well. Cannot see GP until Thursday. Anyone else had this- what happened? AIBU to wait til Thursday? Thanks

I get them when run down/need more sleep they usually go down in about a week

PinkArmadillo · 02/09/2018 00:41

They are lymph nodes, you may be coming down with a cold/ bug. Maybe give it a week and go to the GP if they still feel swollen?

covilha · 02/09/2018 00:49

Thanks for your replies. Have to admit I was scaring myself with thoughts of breast cancer, though since it is both arms wondered if it would/ could be infection related instead

I suffer from these, and have been told by my GP that they are from my contraceptive pill (cerazette) sometimes they’re so painful, that can’t lift my arms.

covilha · 02/09/2018 01:01

So sorry you have this difficulty, Malibu- that sounds really awful to have to live with. Is there no way your GP can prescribe something different?

Probably just lymph nodes, but maybe phone your GP just in case? I've had them before, terrified me, but I ignored them thinking if they get bigger I'll go to the doctor but they went away. My attitude isn't the best though on this.

covilha · 02/09/2018 01:13

Thanks- yep- I feel your terror- though ignorance is often seen as bliss...

I have a little medical knowledge and every instinct told me it was lymph nodes but it doesn't make it any less scary. To appear so quickly it's more likely to be lymph nodes though.

I’ve only been on this pill for 3 months, and been told to persevere......
I’ve had them occasionally, since a teenager, but they are usually open pores that are caused by shaving/deodorant and (gross I know) squeezable. But this past month they’ve been so painful and 3/4 under each armpit (non squeezable) they do clear up after about 4 days.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having the same problem, maybe see how things go for a few days, then visit your GP. Paracetamol helps xx

I have had this when I am fighting a virus. Very sore.
Try not to worry, the chances of it being any thing significant are very slim.
I have always been prescribed antibiotics which I have sometimes taken and sometimes I have just tried to rest, boost my immune system etc till they died down.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 02/09/2018 02:10

I get these all the time, just got one going away that was absoultely huge, sometimes i have 2 or even 3 at a time sometimes just on one side, sometimes both.

Every time ive seen a doctor while having one its been diagnosed as a blocked sweat gland, sometimes they have pus, most of the time it feels like there is and it just goes down and goes away in about a week.

OohIsThatAFlake · 02/09/2018 02:46

@MalibuCyprus and @AlmostAJillSandwich
Hidradenitis suppurativa?

vinobell · 02/09/2018 02:47

both sides quickly = likely not cancer.

flumpybear · 02/09/2018 03:30

Infection - go to doc Thursday anyway but most likely infection

JovialNickname · 02/09/2018 10:21

I had glandular fever as a teen (I'm 40 now) and if I'm ever stressed or run down this happens to me - big swollen glans in my armpits. Could it be the same for you?

JovialNickname · 02/09/2018 10:22

GLANDS!!!

Malibucyprus · 02/09/2018 10:45

Oohisthatafake - I’ve never heard of that but I’ve had a google and no, mine are nothing like that. They aren’t red at all, and don’t have heads on.
