To be pissed at my husband

MRSMARMITE3 · 01/09/2018 21:59

He bought some noise cancelling headphones and wears them loads. I have to shout at him to get his attention. He's watching things on his phone at the time and he will argue and say I'm on my phone but I can hear him. I feel massively shut out and our child will be going "dad dad" and he doesn't notice

No you anbu! How rude of him to sit in a room with his family wearing them. If he wants peace and quiet he can fuck off to the middle of a field by himself. Sorry op, but I'd be furious if my partner seriously did that.

TwoOddSocks · 01/09/2018 22:10

YANBU how incredibly rude to wear them when he's in the same room and supposedly interacting with his family. Surely he can agree to only where them when he is in a separate room.

ElainaElephant · 01/09/2018 22:11

Why are you bothering to shout? If he's on his phone, message him. Even better dish to him first then message asking if he heard you. Regularly.

NonJeNeRegretteRien · 01/09/2018 22:11

Ugh. HIBVU

Get a remote control anklet that can shock him when you need him.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/09/2018 22:14

How daft is he to not know how fucking rude and immature this is? He might as well not even be there. I would tell him he either takes them off or he can go elsewhere. He's ignoring you like you're the fucking hired help.

Rednaxela · 01/09/2018 22:14

What an utter knob. Chuck them in the outside bin when he's not looking. Under a huge pile of kitchen rubbish. "No I haven't seen them dear, when did you last have them?"

What was he like before he got them?

Gronky · 01/09/2018 22:24

Why is he even using his phone when he's in the same room as you? Ask him why he doesn't think you're important enough for his full attention.

JeremyCorbynsBeard · 01/09/2018 22:25

Pissed off, not pissed.

hungryhippie · 01/09/2018 22:27

Pissed = drunk
You mean pissed off

Stupomax · 01/09/2018 22:28

Pissed off, not pissed.

Once again British people demonstrate their inability to understand that the internet is international.

Teaandbiscuits35 · 01/09/2018 22:31

YANBU. Your husband is rude. Simple.

missmouse101 · 01/09/2018 22:35

Stupo, MN started in Britain and I'd be willing to bet that the largest number of people on it are British. I agree, it is pissed OFF.

Stupomax · 01/09/2018 22:39

Nope. No need to tell other people how to speak. It makes you look xenophobic and a bit small-minded.

sue51 · 01/09/2018 22:40

It's pissed off. Tell him to take off his headphones, put his phone away and act like an adult.

glenthebattleostrich · 01/09/2018 22:43

OP, you are absolutely reasonable. He is being a dick and I'd be putting his headphones through the Shredder.

Stupomax, in Britain we are allowed to speak English without being deemed xenophobic. How about you piss off and tell the Germans not to use their language or some such shit.

ThirdChildFourthPile · 01/09/2018 22:47

And while with there, it's pissed off with you're DH. Not pissed at. (I know, Im BU!)

YANBU, what an ignorant arse putting those headphones on!

RJnomore1 · 01/09/2018 22:47

Is he 13???

MRSMARMITE3 · 01/09/2018 22:49

Maybe I'll get pissed to make it seem less annoying that he's doing it. I've told him to go in another room if he wants to wear them and he responded "so I can't watch TV in my own house without being sent away" bloody listen to me then!

You entirely missed my point.

lily2403 · 01/09/2018 22:51

I would walk up with a pair of scissors and cut them up Grin

sue51 · 01/09/2018 22:57

Stupomax Someone who refers to herself as Mrs Marmite is likely to be British so piss off with the xenophobia accusations.

AnalUnicorn · 01/09/2018 23:03

How about this: if you are British and live in the UK, you WBU to say “pissed” instead of “pissed off”
