If you were me what would you do?

Posting here for traffic as I could really use all the help I could get

I don’t really know how to start this and it might ramble a bit, so if you bear with me, thank you in advance.

So recently a lot has changed in my life, I was working and living in Scotland and because of a change in circumstances had to move back in with my parents, partner in tow, back to the south west at the end of June. So, I originally struggled to find a job, found one and started the end of July.

Because of the circumstances living with my parents was always going to be a temporary thing, my brother is autistic and struggles with change. Me and my partner found a flat to rent 45 minutes away and recently signed the tenancy, but because of the distance and the shifts I work can either be really early or extremely late I wouldn’t be able to commute because I would be relying on public transport. So I spoke to work and because I’m scheduled this week coming, I wouldn’t be able to transfer the following week, the week of the 10th.

But the thing is with all the change and the move and having to transfer to a different store for work and start a fresh again. I’m so overwhelmed. It’s also important to add that my mental health is at a complete breaking point, has been for a while. I took three days off from work a couple of weeks ago because of how stressed I was and the stress was making me physically sick, at that point I went to the doctors and was put on fluoxetine and was referred for counselling.

But now with everything that’s going on and my already terrible mental health, I’m really struggling with everything, getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, just the basics. So work is becoming really daunting.

I don’t know what to do, I guess my wwyd? Is simply that, what would you do if you were me?

Can you get signed off sick for two weeks?

HushAByeBaby · 01/09/2018 20:03

If you are mentally unable to cope with the stress of the commute for that week and all the challenges that presents, it would not be unreasonable to ask the Dr to sign you off work for the week.

Fluoxotine should be kicking in after 3weeks. If it's not its time for higher dose & GP. Time off too if you are really bad. I did this, it took 2days for higher dose to kick in. They start v v low dose for some reason. I now know 100mg won't cut it & 150mg is what I ask for & get.

I really was hoping that the fluoxetine would’ve kicked in by now, but the dose is only 20mg, maybe that’s why it hasn’t, I don’t know?
