Loud children in the street

I know summer's nearly over and they'll all be at school soon but through out the holidays all i can hear until around 9pm or children shouting and screaming as they run up and down the street. I don't know about my neighbours but I've always taught my DC that you shouldn't scream whilst playing outside because not everyone wants to hear it. I'm not expecting them to be silent but when i say screaming i mean really screaming and there's no need for it

Sorry but I think YABU.

I've always taught mine not to scream, sadly they still sometimes screamed. It's life, it's what kids sometimes do when they're excited and happy.

Yanbu. I actually sold my house because the house directly next door had a child who screamed in the street all year round.

RomanyRoots · 31/08/2018 13:19

Do you mean screaming or squealing with delight Grin
I know that screaming is annoying, it makes me a bit anxious sometimes, so have to go and look that all is well.
if I don't I'm scared that somebody could be being raped, mugged etc.
so it can be an inconvenience.
But kids need to let of steam and are shut up indoors for too long these days.
maybe use some earplugs, if it's only until 9, it's not unsociable hours.

I don't think kids should be playing out in the street. I never did, neither did my kids or my neighbours'. Back garden is for that - you'll still hear voices of course but street is strictly for walking somewhere or bicycling.

ilovesooty · 31/08/2018 13:25

Not all families have a back garden.

noprobllamas · 31/08/2018 13:26

To be fair the only people who come round here live here so there's not really many cars or bikes

Our street has been teaming with kids all holiday, they were having a screaming competition yesterday, which was nice Hmm I do think it’s uneccessary and it does annoy me but it goes firmly in the ‘can’t do anything about it so waste of time getting wound up about it’ box for me. Turn the tv up and be glad summer’s nearly over Smile

Booboopidoo · 31/08/2018 13:32

teeming, which is what I wrote but autocorrect disagreed Angry

Singlenotsingle · 31/08/2018 13:33

My dgd toddler comes up and screams in your face. I'm tempted to do it to her Hmm

Helpmeyouyetti · 31/08/2018 13:35

Play shouting is fine imo.
But we have some children here who scream so loud I actually worry they’re being attacked. So I have to go and check what’s going on. I don’t get why they scream in this way. I guess no one told them not do it so they don’t think it’s wrong.
