I don't mind spiders and quite happily live alongside them but fuck me the biggest hairiest bastard I have seen )since I lived in Australia) has just climbed my wall above the TV. He was so big he fell off his web.
AIBU to leave home?

Nope, pack your bags and get out pronto.

HoleyCoMoley · 30/08/2018 22:27

I think his sister just climbed up the side of my bath, wasn't the web a bit of a giveawaySmile

Heatiskillingme · 30/08/2018 22:40

I have just had a horrific bathroom encounter and I do have a photo if anyone wants it Sad

kimistayingalive · 30/08/2018 22:43

I had to remove a big nasty from our toilet room downstairs as my ds needed a wee and freaked out. Thankfully it was sat in our sickbowl and I didn't need to get too close myself.

Chirrup5 · 30/08/2018 22:50

Yes OP leave now but make sure you have blowtorched the 8 legged freak , your house and the entire neighbourhood just to make sure said 8 legged monster freak doesn't follow you

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/08/2018 23:05

It wasn't a web as such as one of those strands that Spider-Man throws.

DS caught the fucker in a glass and removed it. He edited to torch it. Is it wrong to disown him 😀

Today I walked into the playroom with DD and a massive bloody spider fell on her face

butterflysugarbaby · 31/08/2018 00:04

Burn the house down. OBVS!

Pieceofpurplesky · 31/08/2018 01:09

Ugh bastards are everywhere

I've just ever so carefully tiptoed out of the sitting room where a tarantula (honest!) is skulking behind a chair leg. Switched light off, shut door and escaped.

It's still going to be in the house somewhere in the morning isn't itShock?

JayDot500 · 31/08/2018 01:30

Okay, where do you people live? I want to be on the other side of the UK, thanks.

TheClaws · 31/08/2018 01:39

Sounds like a Huntsman spider, OP. Scary to look at, and they have a creepy habit of skittering around quickly into dark places where you can’t retrieve them, but they are relatively harmless and will keep your insect population down. I have a friend who keeps one in her bathroom.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 31/08/2018 01:43

Bastards are everywhere...and my bloody husband releases them into the wild only for them to come back in the house the next day ...idiot!

Mintylicious · 31/08/2018 02:20

I can’t bear them and we seem to have so many this year. They’re so ugly and they appear so suddenly and they move so weirdly Sad

I had an encounter with one coming down the stairs the other day; the bastard was so big that it nearly had to use the handrail. DP caught it and threw it outside and it was so heavy that it made an audible thunk when it hit the floor Envy (def not envy).

Backinthebox · 31/08/2018 02:49

I’m in a cabin in the jungle right now and DD has just alerted me to ‘a big spider’ in the bathroom. I investigated and found one of these. (Stock photo, btw. I didn’t actually pick it up but it had scarpered by the time I’d got my camera.)

We also found this crossing the road. I initially thought it was a mouse when we stopped the car for it. This IS the actual spider we saw. Photo taken from a distance as apparently they jump!

Fuck me! Shock That picture that Backinthebox posted! I really don't like spiders but pictures of them don't normally bother me too much, but that made me jump! Maybe MN should add a warning to the thread title? After all,it does say 'no photo from me',so naturally a lot of MNers like me would assume there was no photo at all!

Pieceofpurplev · 31/08/2018 10:45

I am in the UK claws so not a huntsman - I had the pleasure of showering with one of those in Australia!

This was just an abnormally huge house spider.

angemorange · 31/08/2018 10:54

Is it just me or are they much bigger than when we were kids? I definitely don't remember seeing these monsters when I was young :)

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 10:57

Ffs the op said in her title there were no pictures therefore safe to click on, then people post pictures of spiders??

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 10:58

Yes, please ask mn to add a warning

ThrownMuse · 31/08/2018 11:02

I have a ginormous one in the shed that is positioned right by the lawn mower (clearly so when I reach in it will jump at my throat and KILL me).

I was going to send the cat in but I fear she'll lose...

Branleuse · 31/08/2018 11:03

Its probably just a tegeneria. Theyre everywhere at the moment. Theyre cool. Harmless unless youre a smaller insect.

Dogatemyhomework666 · 31/08/2018 11:07

midnight other night.... heard ds walking around. Went in to see what he was doing.
"i went to the toilet and there was a web across my bed, so I caught the spider,... its in that jug down there!

it was the biggest spider I had seen it would have been the size of my palm!!! it got thrown out of the bathroom window.

2 nights later.... again at midnight I heard him getting up and going into the bathroom but didn't hear him going back into his room so went to check on him. he'd caught another spider, this time in the bath and was as huge as the other, I think it had come back in through the window!!!
