To complain about this holiday home?

Rented a villa with pool in the south of France. Cost £3k for the week.

It was generally lovely - fab pool, view, outside area, garden - but there were some niggles: couple of lightbulbs not working/missing. Loo door didn't stay shut/lock. Plates chipped. Furniture tired. Owner's comms poor. No oven. (It had been removed and we weren't told.) Broken lamp. No BBQ tools. Mountan bikes had been prormised but weren't there. That sort of thing.

I emailed the owner when I got home with the above, asking for some money back, and just had a very snippy email back from him complaining about my complaints and saying he's too busy to reply this week.

AIBU to complain?? That's alot of money and I expected a lot, TBH. And I don't care how busy he is - if he is renting out a holiday home and taking money, surely he should have the time to do the related admin??

Pfft.

Ask him if he will have time to read the bad review you intend to leave him.
And do it.

No oven? What did they expect you would be eating on your holiday?! Definitely complain and publicly!

The little stuff is meh, but no oven, no mountain bikes?!

spottybetty · 30/08/2018 18:50

I wouldn’t have mentioned the other stuff if it hasn’t been for the oven and the poor attitude of the woman who met us and showed us round.

Sounds crap for 3k!

Leave a bad review so other people can make their minds up about this place. If the owner is half decent they will grovel a reply and offer to give you some money back.

I don't think you'll be getter by any money back...but leave an honest review, it will be helpful to others in the future.
