Need advice on working in a school office

Posting for traffic. Does anyone have any tips on getting a job in a school office? I have loads of admin and HR experience and in my last admin job a main part of my role was liaising with school offices, which I really enjoyed.
Positions that come up are few and far between or are usually full time so I have never applied.
I am now able to work full time due to the children being a bit older but I wondered if anyone has any advice on what I could do to make myself a more attractive applicant?

Try reading the safeguarding policies of schools, this is a very important part of the job in my experience and mentioning this in an interview will definitely help you stand out. And look for temporary maternity leave cover roles - which will give you experience and could possibly lead to a permanent role if the person decides not to return.

They are much sought-after jobs because of the school hours and the fact that most people working in schools are lovely Smile

Be aware that if it’s a primary school it’s all hands on deck and if a child has been sick or soiled themselves, you may have to help out.
