Grey rock and illness

I’m not sure if my family members are narcissists, but at best they are batshit crazy, nasty and selfish.
I’ve been having a lovely life since they all stopped talking/visiting/causing shit. Couldn’t be happier if I never saw them again.
Unfortunately one of my relatives is ill. They don’t want the “others” to find out, stand round the hospital bed talking about how to spend the inheritance (like they did last time when they thought it was more serious than it was, or hoped it was so they could get money)
How do you deal with the unavoidable interaction with those you don’t want to communicate with? Any experience, tips or advice?

Water off a ducks back.
Nothing they say or do can affect you, you lead separate lives. They aren't your problem. If they talk to you directly, count to 3 slowly before you answer, be non committal, don't get drawn in, don't rise to the bait. Act bored, disinterested, disengaged.

Try to think of them as distant acquaintances, or a kind of improv street theatre.
