Parking over cul-de-sac entrance?

After complaining about parking threads I have one of my own.

I live in a cul-de-sac, right at the bottom, far away from the offending area. There is on street parking in the cul-de-sac and everyone parks nose or boot in - you get more cars in that way. As long as they are standard length cars there is plenty of room for everyone to park and get in and out of their spaces and in and out of the cul-de-sac. There are no allocated car parking spaces.

Recently a long white van has started parking right at the entrance of the cul-de-sac which is fine except their van overlaps the entrance of the cul-de-sac by about 3 or 4 feet. I always come in from the main road as shown on the diagram, then cross the inner road and into my road. The van being there means I have to do a wiggle.

The junction of the inner road, my road and the linking road is always really busy and if I'm trying to get in as someone is coming out it can't be done. One has to wait for the other with the position of the van.

AIBU to be put out? Legally can he overhang the entrance like that? If not who could I report it to.

It's just becoming a nuisance now.

Has a note been put on the van? Maybe they aren't aware of the issue they're causing.

Surely if it's a resident they can park there? Where would you suggest they park?

Louiselouie0890 · 28/08/2018 17:11

If I'm reading right you have to wait to enter if someone's there? If so It's hardly the end of the world surely

Grandad I'm not sure 😳 the house they're parking outside belongs to a disabled older lady so I'm not sure who the van belongs to or why it's suddenly appeared. I don't know where else they could park but they are sticking out 4ft into the road. It's a really long van, not your standard work van. They're entitled to park outside the house but not into the road surely Confused

Or am I just BU?

YANBU. I'd put a polite note on it and see if anything changed, and if not would watch for the owner and tell him in person the inconvenience he's causing. Not sure of the legality though.

I'd lave a note, then next call the local community officer who can find out who's doing it and talk to them. Definite CF's

Leave not Lave

Could you ask around and see if anyone knows who owns the van? They might be reasonable and agree to park elsewhere. Failing that leave a polite note.
