Cruelty to animals

Aibu to think that people who treat animals cruelly get off too lightly and need harsher sentencing. I've been watching Dog Rescuers and every time i'm in tears at what some people do to their dogs. Absolute appalling cruelty, but they get off so light. There's no deterrent is there. Often they just get a ban from keeping animals for 5 years or so but i've been told this is never enforced.

I have so much more love for animals than most humans. Struggle to watch/read anything to do with animal cruelty, have rescued several dogs and just cannot understand how anyone can hurt any animal or other person. Penalties should be higher and upheld.

YANBU, you're right.

Absolutely right.

I totally agree. I prefer dogs to some pathetic excuses for human beings.

There should be a register to stop pet shops etc from selling to these people and also to help the police in the event of unsolved violent crimes (against both people and animals).

Apart from animals being neglected, there's so many that have appalling cruelty done to them. It's pure evil what some of them do. I hate the soft sentencing, animals haven't got a voice, its so wrong that the courts don't think the animals worthy of the perpetrators getting punished properly. There have been cases where the dog has had some kind of tortuous contraption embedded into their necks, and the bastards are just getting banned from keeping dogs for a few years. Angry
