I just received purfume I bought off eBay, ex demo, doesn’t smell of anything. Spent £30. Disappointed. What if it’s fake? Should I report to police? The seller has refunded me.

Is it for cats?

notsohippychick · 27/08/2018 08:37

Report to eBay. They will be banned for selling fakes x

notsohippychick · 27/08/2018 08:37

Is it a fake?

Jajajajajoo · 27/08/2018 08:38

I don’t know. Just doesn’t seem to smell of much

If they’ve refunded you actually I wouldn’t take it further. If it’s ex demo it’s peopbably been around a while and lost it’s smell x

Kinraddie · 27/08/2018 08:49

You were very lucky to get your money back. Just learn a lesson and move on.

Babyblues052 · 27/08/2018 08:52

Report it to the police?😂 What would you say? My perfume doesn't smell.

You've reported it to ebay, got a refund. Its an ex demo, it has just lost its smell. Really doubt its a police matter.

ADastardlyThing · 27/08/2018 09:07

Police? Are you serious?

Branleuse · 27/08/2018 09:08

You got a refund. No need for further action.

Piffle11 · 27/08/2018 09:39

@FASH84 thank you for my first laugh of the day!

Nicknacky · 27/08/2018 09:40

What do you think the police are going to do!?

MuttsNutts · 27/08/2018 09:41

Haha the police?!

Do. Not. Be. Daft.

Piffle11 · 27/08/2018 09:42

I agree with notsohippy - it will be old and therefore will have lost its fragrance. I wouldn't bother referring to ebay unless the seller's feedback is full of negative comments saying the same thing. I doubt the police would be interested.

Sunflowerr · 27/08/2018 09:43

@FASH Grin

Caroelle · 27/08/2018 09:56

There is no criminal offence here, you could contact Trading Standards.

jelliebelly · 27/08/2018 09:58

Think the police might have more pressing matters to deal with - cheap perfume is always a gamble - what does ex-demo even mean? If it's been open ages it will have lost its smell - you've got a refund so just send it back.

pasttimes11 · 27/08/2018 09:59

It's perfume, sorry couldn't help it.

LaBamba1 · 27/08/2018 10:13

I do a lot on eBay. You [presumably] opened a "not as described" case and got your money back. It sounds that [as you seem to still have the perfume] the seller did not co-operate as normally you would have to return. EBay has then given him a defect though they will not "ban" him just for one. There really is no more to do. I'd guess that selling fakes is a civil matter which would be dealt with by Trading Standards. They will be interested only if the seller is a business seller. The police will not be interested - in any event - for £30.

AtLastAPlan · 27/08/2018 10:15

Ex-demo could mean it's a factice and therefore isn't supposed to smell of anything.
Definitely report it to the police though, and let us know what they say Smile

Lalliella · 27/08/2018 10:15

I can understand you’re feline sad about this but please don’t waste the time of either the police or Trading Standards.

ciderhouserules · 27/08/2018 10:16

Is it sold as Purrrfume? In which case FASH is probably spot on Grin

Tink88 · 27/08/2018 10:18

You bought cheap used perfume on eBay. Got your money back and think the police should be called? I worry.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/08/2018 10:19

The seller has refunded you so I’d do nothing. EBay is full of fakes so reporting won’t change anything. You could say something in your feedback.

kaldefotter · 27/08/2018 10:26

Maybe it’s a factice, and was just for display. Is it a pretty bottle? If it’s a factice, it’s not a fake perfume, it just never contained actual perfume in the first place.

It’s possible the seller didn’t know. You got your refund. I’m not sure it’s worth doing anything else.

attentionspan · 27/08/2018 10:31

Trading Standards, as other pp say.
