Thinking of writing an ad on gumtree, I'm looking to rent a property. Anyone ever done this? If you know any other sites I could use please let me know

Spareroom seems a wiser option than gumtree

I’d go spareroom, and if you live in a city look out for ‘flatmate speed dating’ type events

I would use a website designed for that purpose like spareroom.com

You’re more likely to get a response and you can browse potential flats/flatmates too

I did this (put a wanted ad on Gumtree) and got a nice flat (short term let) - the obvious advantage is instead of competing with dozens of other potential tenants you might get someone who is thinking of renting their place but has not got round to advertising it yet. But be warned you will also get replies from weirdos and scammers! But if you try and "sell yourself" a bit in the ad, you might get lucky and catch the eye of a decent landlord who is looking for a tenant.

But having written the above, it's not clear from your post if you are wanting to rent a room in a shared property or a whole place or if you have a property you own and want to rent it out and want to know where to advertise it?

Not looking for a flat mate, as I have three DC Grin. How do I sell myself? Any tips? Smile
