Sleeping on the sofa bed

Ok so the situation is, you are staying at a friend's house on the sofa bed in the living room. However it's getting quite late and no one is showing signs of going bed, and you can't go to bed until THEY go to bed because you are all in the living room. Going home or sleeping in their bed is not an option.

Is it unreasonable to say something about wanting to go to bed? Or should you just follow the hosts, even if it's VERY late?

If it's one night, go with the flow.
If it's a long term arrangement then say something.

^ I agree it depends. I’d curl up as much as possible in a corner and just nod off. They’d either head to bed or carry on and if the latter then at least I’m still asleep.

Just get changed and go to sleep in the sofa as planned. If they are sitting on it ask for another drink then take your chance while they’re up. Or if they’re a good friend say “shift up gobby I’m going to bed”.

@frogscotch7 ha ha I love that!

I said something at 2am, finally went to bed at 3am. My husband said it was rude to do so but at that point I was honestly beyond caring!

Lesson learned, no more sofa surfing for me!

I agree with feemee.

Fair enough, I'll just make sure I'm not in this situation again. I'm too old to stay up that late! Grin

We stayed with my oil for 5 weeks. They are a regular 11pm bedtime. I regularly fell asleep on the sofa. They didn't mind. Benefits of being comfortable with each other.
