cheeky?

I'm selling something for a fiver on gumtree. Someone wants it but has said they'll meet me at the local shop to buy it. It's only a few minutes drive/10 mins walk but I've said no. AIBU to think this is cheeky for a £5 sale (FWIW it's worth around £35-45 new). It's not heavy so it wouldn't matter if they don't drive.

Maybe they wanted to meet somewhere public from a safety point of view? Depends how much you need the fiver I guess!

Never thought of that. Maybe but somehow I doubt it.

I'd say no, what a CF!

NonaGrey · 22/08/2018 17:13

They don’t want to come to your house. Perhaps they’ve had a bad experience.

Either you want the £5 or you don’t.

troodiedoo · 22/08/2018 17:14

it's not cheeky to ask. just say no if you cba.

Duchessgummybuns · 22/08/2018 17:14

For the sake of £5 I’d be inclined to think sod it and give it to a charity shop instead

Glumglowworm · 22/08/2018 17:15

As PP said, they would probably just prefer to meet in a public place. If you would rather not then that’s fine too.

Neither of you is BU, assuming the item is something they can live without and you can live without the £5

maskingtape · 22/08/2018 17:15

If they'd asked politely I might have been more amenable.

You could suggest a time when you’ll be there anyway. I don’t think it’s that cheeky to ask.

Maelstrop · 22/08/2018 17:18

Nope, wouldn’t go for that. I sell a bit on eBay and if someone wants to collect it to save on postage, then they collect from my house, not some random shop. How odd.
