Sandwich roughly 400 - 500 calories. Pizza 1000 - 2000 calories. The maths don't lie.

DD takes a mini pizza to school some days - 296 calories so less than a sandwich and counts as 1 of her 5 a day. I have no problem with it!

It's a pretty direct comparison, nutritionally speaking, I would have thought. However it obviously depends how much you eat - a sandwich is a relatively standard size, whereas pizzas aren't. I was actually shocked at the calorie count in a single serving of homemade pizza dough, & made my servings an awful lot smaller after that day (basically the size of a mini pizza from the supermarket).

An entire pizza express supermarket pizza is about 700 calories. Shared between 2 with salad = light lunch.

Where is op suggesting that the pizza in question is an entire 2000kcal deep pan stuffed crust pizza? Share one of those between a family, with salad, and it's a great lunch.
