To pick or not to pick

There is a apple tree full.of red rosy apples up the road from me, in a private garden of a house that is empty.
Last year all the apples dropped to the ground and rotted.
I hate waste and the possibilities! Jam, apple pie, apple sauce, apple crumble etc.

WIBU to go and pick them?

Go for it, so long as it's not on a road with heavy passing traffic. I pick fruit quite often - I made blackberry ice cream this weekend and have some elderberry liqueur on the go. I've spotted several wild apple trees that I'm keeping an eye on for when they're ripe.

I would, if it's definitely vacant.

I went when it got dark and picked lots of apples. It's definitely a empty house.
