To think the main character from Unforgotten isn't very professional?

Holding back the tears when telling family their sister/daughter has been found is one thing, empathy.

But crying in front of her staff when handing out orders for the day and running off from a crime scene as well as losing it when interviewing the suspect.
She shouldn't be on the job really, should she?

Isn't that the point though? To show that she is going through a difficult time in her life and needs some time off.

Shes clearly been in the job a long time and is overcome by stress. She needs a nice holiday.

You do realise it isn't real? Smile

That's the point - she's human and stressed and emotional. So is her colleague - he wasn't able to remain detached regarding the paedophile thing in the last series. She's a very empathetic character with a lot going on in her life. It's a drama - so it's about people's emotions and how thier private and work lives overlap.

I don't imagine your average detective has to interview a serial killer all that often - maybe once in a working life if that - how would anyone know how they would react faced with that kind of dreadfulness ?
(And yes I know it isn't real but i think the writer thinks through situations and thinks about how his/her different characters would react, that's what makes it a good story)

I was joking.

Like a lot of these detective shows it shows their human side and an insight into their character, which adds to the charm of the show I think.
