Restuarant and bar recommendation would be appreciated .Tia

William and Vic's wine bar is fabulous, you will need to book a table for food.
Also recommend Betty's for breakfast or afternoon tea. There is often a queue though.

The Harrogate Brasserie is a really nice restaurant, bit quirky and often has some live music (background).

There's a nice street where there are several bars/restauraunts - John Street, which is more or less behind the Hotel Du Vin. Has things like Pitcher and Piano, Banyan, Las Iguanas etc.

It’s a lovely place. Betty’s for breakfast is a must do.

Lucia Bar & Grill was good as well. Had a balcony with a load of blankets and heaters which might be quite nice at that time of year. Good cocktails

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 21/08/2018 10:42

Gotta agree on Betty’s

RayRayBidet · 21/08/2018 10:47

If you have your car and fancy a nice pub lunch you can't go wrong with The Queen's Head at Kettlesing.

IJustLostTheGame · 21/08/2018 11:03

I don't like bettys.
It's too expensive and the service we got was poor.

positivepixie · 21/08/2018 11:08

Stuzzi near the conference centre - amazing authentic independent Italian. Worth the trip to Harrogate alone!

RomanyRoots · 21/08/2018 11:13

Just sums up Harrogate, nicely Grin
Fur coat and no Knickers and pretentious OP.
Awful place, is there nowhere better you fancy.

RayRayBidet · 21/08/2018 11:44

It's not that bad!

QueenOfMyWorld · 21/08/2018 11:46

It's an hour away and never been, done york loads so fancied a change. We don't often get a night away without ds so it's a treat

Betty's is way overpriced, plenty of other good cafes there. Jenny's tea shop is very nice and about a third of the price of Betty's.

If you like Thai food, Sukhothai is excellent.

MerrilyWatkins · 21/08/2018 12:01

Go to Baltzersen's for a waffle.

QueenOfMyWorld · 21/08/2018 12:42

Im thinking seafood for the evening I've heard drum and monkey is good?

OP posts:
OiOverEre · 21/08/2018 13:52

IMO the Drum and Monkey lives off its reputation. Last time I was in I decided never to go back.

If you want seafood, look at Fisk (Disclaimer: not been). The Tannin Level is fab (not seafood), Papa’s is great for Mediterranean food, (and great value), Konak Meze too. Quantro is nice if you want posh food served in stacks.

What kind of place do you like?

I second Baltzersen’s for lunch or snacks. I’d choose it over Betty’s any day.

Pubs. Depends on your age. I’m old and like The Old Bell. Proper old-fashioned pub, recently started selling gin out of gold fish bowls. Grin

Feltcushion · 21/08/2018 14:23

Chances are wherever is recommended will be closed by Christmas Smile

Book in advance. The Christmas market is very busy.

What kind of pub do you like?

QueenOfMyWorld · 21/08/2018 14:57

We are both 38 like busyish bars but nothing too crazy!

Have to agree with Romany ,was sorely disappointed with Harrogate.

MereDintofPandiculation · 21/08/2018 15:27

If you get bored with the Christmas Market, the Turkish Baths are (or before their refurbishment) were lovely - but its pot luck as to whether there's a mixed session when you're there. And there's another Betty's at Harlow Carr on the edge of town - the northern garden of the Royal Horticultural Society, which is nice at any time of the year, and with quite a good bookshop.

CrystalMazing · 21/08/2018 15:33

Betty's is a bit emperor's new clothes. I agree with Sukothai. Lovely food.
