Neighbour using weedkiller on our boundary and killed our grass.

Neighbours Dad actually as he does all the gardening for them. I asked my neighbour what he had used to kill the grass on our side like this and no apology came for the yellow streaks and long dead areas on my lawn edge, no "I'll mention to him that he's used too much to just kill the weeds on our side" she just looked at them and said "it'll grow back" . I didn't know what to say but am so pissed off just now. Got up as can't sleep for pissed-off-ness. Not sure if I should mention it to the Dad as she didn't seem bothered enough to.

Ask him for the name of it. Tell him you aren’t happy in view of recent news articles regarding weedkiller so going to check it out on line. He might be more careful next time.

ChasedByBees · 20/08/2018 01:44

It may not grow back if its been killed. I would not be happy about weed killer being used on my property. If they have damaged your property I would have expected them to apologise and put it right.

frustratedgardener · 20/08/2018 01:45

Thanks Scabetty, I did think about the Roundup press stuff but never mentioned that either.

We have a town wide ban on that crap. It's a slow death for wildlife and is. I'd be furious he'd used it on my property.

Stimmyplip · 20/08/2018 01:49

And us

MyDirtyLittleSecret · 20/08/2018 02:02

Careless twat! YANBU to be pissed off!

DH did that to our lawn, (once - I may have threatened to spike his coffee with said weedkiller so he'll NEVER do it again) was spraying cracks in concrete paving one side of lawn and walked diagonally right across it to get to other side not realizing the little spray hose was dribbling all the way behind him. Lovely dead diagonal stripe for that whole summer and the next we had drought and water restrictions so the entire lawn died and it wasn't noticeable any more.

If its any consolation OP, it will come back, eventually - just don't hold your breath.

AjasLipstick · 20/08/2018 02:17

I HATE people who use weedkiller. It's fucking toxic and there are other less lazy methods.

I would send a formal letter saying that if they use weedkiller in proximity of your garden again you will be seeking legal advice and they can expect to hear from a solicitor.

drastard · 20/08/2018 04:40

Ha. Formal letters? Solicitors? Legal advice? Hating people who use it? Brilliant. Don't forget to log it with 101, OP.

I thought 'toxic' was reserved as an adjective for family or co-workers who annoy you.

//-----------

She seems rude and I'd be annoyed and would have told her so - more the lack of apology as opposed to the accident - but there's no way I'd be loosing sleep over it. A little water and seed and you'll never know it happened in a week or two.

Longdistance · 20/08/2018 04:50

Put some cress seeds on her lawn spelling out ‘twat’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s not worth losing sleep over it. Just plot some revenge in your head. It’ll be fun!

frustratedgardener · 20/08/2018 08:41

Grin tired but less cross this morning - I like the cress idea!

Was it windy when he sprayed? This can carry the weed killer.

bettytaghetti · 20/08/2018 10:12

Someone mentioned these on a thread a little while ago. Grin
Although it may just encourage the dad to up his game with the weedkiller.

Governoress86 · 20/08/2018 10:55

Bettytaghetti thanks for that idea. I'm having a rough time with my neighbours and have been for 18 months, they have killed my plants and grass in purpose so I'm going to get revenge on them with them weed bombs.

frustratedgardener · 20/08/2018 11:17

It's so mean when they don't think of their neighbours garden Governess. Nice idea Bettytaghetti Grin. I didn't see him do it CurcubitaPepo but know it was them as all round their property line has been done (and is yellow/dead) but mine is just on the boundary we share. Measured it this mornng 80cm at the longest point. Can't believe that is the wind - think it is carlessness.

It is so mean . I have put CCTV up now to try and catch them out. We are trying to get our garden how we want now our little one is older and I think our neighbour is jealous so I think that's why she is doing it.

SM2132 · 20/08/2018 12:30

I am sure it was an accident and he will be more careful in future. Really not worth getting upset about!

frustratedgardener · 20/08/2018 13:59

Such a shame Governess. Hope you are right SM21132. A little apology would have gone a very long way (rather than the 'not bovered' response I got.

SM2132 · 20/08/2018 14:04

Yes agreed, he should have apologised. If I could see I had upset a neighbour, I would go round and apologise with a nice plant/some chocolates.
