Kids crying in films

Me and dp watching sex in the city 2 (well dp is scrowling through his phone).

It's the wedding part at the beginning and Charlottes baby is crying hysterically.

Me and dp just though the exact same thing how does that child get in that state in the first place. Surely they must be upset properly. There only about two or three they don't no how to act.

Surely having a kid act out this way for the only purpose of entertainment is abuse? Unless surely there is some simple explanation??????

Simply they get a lot of babies ready and when one starts to cry take them on set.
They can only film, if I remember rightly, for 15 minutes for a baby so not long

They wait for a baby to cry.

Some of the stuff they used to do to get older little kids to cry on set was actually horrible, as in "your mum just died", being used to make the kid from New nightmare cry.

On the other hand watch the main kid from ET's audition tape.

Iirc they say to him immediately after, "you've got the job".
