Just that, really. There's loads of shite on children's TV in the morning but this is just awful.

I agree!!

It used to be that Baby Jake was the worst but Shane and the very-out-of-tune-theme-tune is abysmal.

LokiBear · 17/08/2018 16:11

Post like this are why I love mumsnet! Fuck off, Shane! Grin

EightAce · 17/08/2018 16:28

Exactly, Imaketherules, the theme tune sounds like someone making it up as they go along. "Chopping, mixing, filming in the kitchen". What?! How on earth did that get signed off?

The animation''s pretty poor too (the red headed vegetable grower appears to be wearing some sort of crash helmet) and all the stuff about how everything has to be fresh and organic is super irritating.

Dont forget his voice! So irritating

PotteringAlong · 17/08/2018 16:34

It also appears to be set in pontypandy...

Hisnamesblaine · 17/08/2018 17:15

I've seen the same 5 episodes on repeat...... that bleeding pig going missing is the worst!!!!!

SilverySurfer · 17/08/2018 17:35

It could be worse, it could be my childhood viewing, Muffin the Mule Grin

Seniorcitizen1 · 17/08/2018 17:36

Use the off button

littlemisssunshine81 · 17/08/2018 17:38

Yes I’m with you on this one! In the mornings I usually let my 4yo choose between CBeebies and milkshake, today this came on and he was like ‘not this mummy’

Imaketherules · 17/08/2018 18:17

I was good to use the word ‘organic’ but tbh that winds me up even more!!!!

FromNowOn · 17/08/2018 18:36

My kids love it and I don’t understand why! I’ve also seen the same five episodes over and over...

Wishiwasa · 17/08/2018 18:45

The bloody guilt trip about 'cooking' with your children on any show gets me riled. Its fine for some things, but yesterday I came downstairs from putting the washing away to find my two year old had cheerfully smashed all the eggs on the floor and was now covering the sofa in butter. She'd obviously picked up some very strange choking techniques from the few sessions when I didn't chase her out of the kitchen Confused

Wishiwasa · 17/08/2018 18:45

Cooking not choking...Blush

jdrussell78 · 26/01/2019 07:48

This is a great thread. Anyone know what happens to Shane’s wife ?

DearTeddyRobinson · 26/01/2019 10:03

Grin thank god my kids hate that show. It's so bloody annoying and preachy. I think it's EU funded to encourage kids to cook etc but it's just so..worthy

Getalife21 · 11/03/2019 12:00

I googled Shane the chef episodes because my son is toilet training and he loves watching so it helps him to watch whilst on the toilet and I was astonished that the third result was this thread and poor old Shane being vilified.Thankfully Seniorcitizen1 speaks sense. If you don't like it switch it off. I personally think it teaches kids so much about healthy eating I can't imagine why a parent would hate it so much. None of the responses explain the hatred for it except he preaches. What exactly, healthy eating? And as for the poor animation have you seen some other kids shows? I have always respected the views on here about serious matters but honestly this?

Amester57 · 08/04/2019 08:36

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this is a bit harsh. Personally I think Shane the chef teaches lots of things to kids. My little boy shouts out the animals when they appear and learns all about the food vegetables that's in the episodes. As for the animation, have you seen some that's on cbeebies? Some of the sites don't make sense or teach anything!

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 08/04/2019 08:58

I haven't watched this thank god but my dc went through a phase of watching My World Kitchen (or whatever it was called) with that chef and I thought that was good because it showed real children cooking, eating and enjoying real food without the preaching or being overly, falsely jolly. I hate false jollity.

IceIceCoffee · 08/04/2019 09:02

I find it so strange how defensive people get over children’s tv programs. Mr tumble for example. He annoys me so much. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the good things he’s done. I just find him irritating yet to some it’s terrible to feel this way.

Nanny0gg · 08/04/2019 09:10

Anybody watched Baby Club then?
That's terrible.

Breathingfire · 08/04/2019 09:12

My 3yo now asked for a disney dvd on a morning. She loves peter rabbit but that's it she's sick of the rest. Even though she knows she won't get a full dvd watched she prefers it

CutSomeRug · 08/04/2019 09:14

When my youngest was small we had the abomination that was BigCookLittleCook. Inedible ‘food’, terrible theme tune, awful jingles that made you want to pull your ears off and bad jokes. Also a CBeebies creation.

IceIceCoffee · 08/04/2019 09:15

I actually love Ben and Holly though it’s one of the tolerable ones

Nice to see some American visitors, welcome. In the UK we have a form of humour called irony, which involves saying things we don't really mean for comic effect. Nobody on this thread is actually this invested in hatred for Shane the Chef.

donquixotedelamancha · 08/04/2019 09:44

Anyone know what happens to Shane’s wife?

She was in some of the early episodes. After the episode where she had an affair and the one where Shane built a new patio she's not been mentioned since.
