To ask if it's possible to do something about a spare tyre in a week?

I've posted before about struggling to lose pounds in spite of diet and exercise. Well, after a long wait the scales have finally started to show a loss, not much but it's a start! But I still have a very obvious spare tyre. I have a big event in a week, very dressy affair. AIBU to think there's got to be something i could do about the appearance of my spare tyre in a week or is it wishful thinking?

A body wrap followed by a pair of Spanx is probably the only realistic thing you can do in a week.

ZoeWashburne · 17/08/2018 12:48

Spanx and cut out all carbs, dairy, and sugar (including fruit). Pretty much eat only vegetables, eggs and lean meat (fish and chicken). Drink lots of water and avoid carbonated drinks- especially fizzy drinks, including diet fizzy drinks.

Also, you need to remember with weight loss: exercise is great and makes you feel good, tone up, etc but it is not for weight loss. Weight loss is 80-90% diet. (the remaining is a mixture of exercise and genetics).

Never even thought of a body wrap!! @ZoeWashburne (love the name!) Weird question but what the heck do you have for breakfast if you can't have dairy, or carbs?

Eggs for breakfast!

ZoeWashburne · 17/08/2018 13:07

@Teachtolive

Black coffee plus eggs. I usually have a spinach and egg omelette/ scramble. If you are pressed for time, hard boil a bunch of eggs and keep them on the fridge for the week, then have 1-2 each morning. No bread, potatoes, rice, chickpeas, etc.

But get my fitness pal app and actually count your calories! Count and measure before it goes in your mouth. And you must include olive oil, spices etc. People eat soooo much more than they need to. Eat off of a side plate too. When I am trying to lose weight I eat between 1200-1300 calories a day (1400 on days I work out). Although this can vary for you so use their calculations. That breakfast is already 300 calories. So that leaves you 450 for lunch and dinner. That is pretty much a nice piece of salmon, broccoli and a small side salad with a tablespoon of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

No sugar whatsoever. Watch this in sauces. and cut out fruit and fruit yoghurt. We usually do it for convenience but having a piece of meat and a side salad of lettuce and balsamic/ olive oil is very fast and easy.

I've been using MFP for about 7 or 8 weeks now. It's very good for keeping me on the straight and narrow! I just wasn't seeing any loss for about 5 weeks despite being starving and busting my ass with exercise. Think there may have been a post-breastfeeding hormonal thing going on though

If its just a spare tyre and not rolls then a week of sheer hard graft will do it.
Don't kid yourself, realise its gonna take pain and tears to shift it. But the rewards....Oh' the rewards!

Start NOW!! crunches, press-ups etc etc anything to raise your heart beat. Hoover the house twice a day...double up on the stairs. When done don't sit for that cuppa...get outside and sweep the path, cut the grass, wash the car. take a brisk walk, not a leisurely one.
It's not magic, you just need to raise your heartbeat and cut back on the rewards.

Good luck

Eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon using 1cal spray is a hearty no carb breakfast if you like a fry up. You will be passing wind so ease off it before the event. A slimming world ready-made meal with lots of vegetables for dinner. Drink lots of water. You will see a difference in a week.

Teachtolive · 18/08/2018 11:53

mrcharlie I'm exercising like a demon, minimum 4 days a week, but I'll throw in a few extra crunches and planks!

tomatoesrock That's the first bit of diet advice I've got that's ever made me hungry to read- thank you, I'll definitely try that!

I was going to say "go to Kwik fit". Not that kind of spare tyre.

Write down every single thing you eat for a day. Every teeny tiny thing.

Read it before breakfast on day 2 and think how you can better it then carry on. It just makes you aware of the little bits and bobs that you eat without thinking.
