Why do people cover up in organisation?

I'm dealing with an organisation that has treated my son badly and unethically but has had numerous incidents in the the years before me for example a child assaulted by a coach on an international trip abroad, (police were involved but they clubbed together and lied) yes people are volunteers and only the top are paid but I'm left wondering where peoples moral compass is when they keep covering up stuff such as child abuse?

To add many previous top people have left over it but why do others cover up? I genuinely don't understand.

Many reasons. Guilt. Guilt by association. Needing to keep a job. Thinking they wont be believed. Not knowing what to do so doing nothing. Believing the institution is more important than any individual. Refusing to acknowledge the possible truth of any allegations. Not being able to provide proof. Pressure from colleagues. Many many reasons.

Mainly for reasons of self preservation, to keep their jobs, pressure from bosses, putting their livelihoods on the line, threatened with bleak promotion prospects or worse if they speak out. Some are affiliated with the freemasons, they cover each others backs always. They rationalise their lies in their own minds but it is so wrong. I understand your frustration, from one who has been denied the truth & justice by the police.
I hope your son can move on from this.
