I’ve left a DPD parcel in Post Office- help!

I’m a regular buyer at Cos on line. Often return items via Royal Mail with no issue. It’s an international address and initially my local post office queried it, but then happily accepted returns and although Cos were a little slow, I never had any issues getting a refund.

That is until now.... ordered a dress and a jumper each in 2 sizes. Kept the best fit and as always returned the other item. Left it into post office (usual girl on counter who laughed and said oh your usual return)and was given a receipt of postage. Anyway I’ve discovered that Cos have now switched toDPD and I had left it to Royal Mail with a DPD label on. Neither myself nor the post office staff noticed that it was DPD.

So basically have I lost my parcel containing £130 worth of clothes for ever??? I’m feeling slightly panic stricken !

Had it got a return address on? If so, they’ll just it to you. I have done this with White Stuff.

When did you leave it? Have you contacted the Post Office and/or Cos?

spinduffy · 16/08/2018 14:45

2 weeks ago. I only just realised when I ordered something else. Going to contact Cos but am sort of anxious that they will say it’s lost forever!

No return address on parcel, but my details are inside the parcel

If you're details are inside it should be sorted out.

oreosoreosoreos · 16/08/2018 14:56

Have you been back there? Assuming it's not also a DPD across point it shouldn't really have gone anywhere?!

This sounds very odd. Don’t they scan parcel labels at post offices for the tracking information? Royal Mail staff see RM labels day in, day out. A dpd label would stick out like a sore thumb to them. Finding it very hard to believe this.

initially my local post office queried it, but then happily accepted returns why would they query it lol it’s literally their job to process mail? An international address shouldn’t phase them. Why on earth would they refuse a parcel with a prepaid label because it has an international destination address? Surely they deal with international post often enough to not refuse to take it.

Do you have a tracking number on your postage receipt?

Surely you can just show your proof of postage to cos if the package is lost?

hannnnnnnxo · 16/08/2018 15:17

Also you can still return items via Royal Mail if you pay the postage yourself I’m sure?

Royal Mail may still deliver the parcel but charge the recipient a fee if there is postage due

hannnnnnnxo · 16/08/2018 15:18

Sorry forgot to add, if the parcel is lost then you can make a claim through Royal Mail too. Do check if the postage option you used has insurance to the value

So I spoke to Cos and they were extremely helpful. They agreed to refund item as I was able to forward proof of postage and returns receipt to them. They were extremely helpful and couldn’t have been nicer. They said a few people had been confused by the switch to DPD.

The post office have always said that the returns label to Cos was very unusual and not like any other that they tend to receive. The first few times they had to get manager to figure out how they recorded it.

I have been a loyal customer for years and given their excellent customer service I will remain so.
