My friend 3 days ago asked me to go out for the day today.
I agreed and was looking forward to it.
Meet early morning and spend the day out.
I'm in the process of decorating at the min so didn't need a excuse for a day off.
Get up this morning early, get ready etc
Text her "morning shall I pick you up around 9?"
She texts back saying
"Not sure if I want to go out now, still in bed, will let you know within 2 hours"
So I'm sat twiddling my thumbs for 2 hours ..why arrange something?

Text her back and say you're not interested in going either now. Don't let her treat you as an option. Incredibly rude.

ShatnersWig · 16/08/2018 08:08

I'd simply text back "thanks for letting me know, I'm going to go to X, if you decide to join me, text me when you get there"

Go and have your day out regardless.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 16/08/2018 08:08

YANBU. How rude!

TooQuietSaidRoobarb · 16/08/2018 08:08

How rude of her! I'd text back 'Let's leave it then, I don't fancy waiting around for 2 hours. See you soon'

NonJeNeRegretteRien · 16/08/2018 08:13

YANBU

What a strange way to treat a friend? If someone did that to me I would start the process of distancing myself from them. Shows a complete lack of consideration for you and demonstrates true self-indulgence on her side.

Do something fun today OP, don’t stay in twiddling your thumbs!

FatCow2018 · 16/08/2018 08:14

Rude! Don't wait around just do your own thing. When she texts tell her you've made othet plans because you aren't a mug who sits around waiting for friends to decide if they can be arsed to meet up with her.

SoyDora · 16/08/2018 08:16

I’d reply what TooQuietSaidRoobarb said.

marry3456x · 16/08/2018 08:17

We chose a total free day of going to the local museum then were going to the park so her kids would have a play.
It's not like it was going to cost anything.
Very annoyed.
It's not really a day I would want /could do alone.
Might go for a walk along the beach or something.
So annoyed

Returnofthesmileybar · 16/08/2018 08:17

Eh rude! Don't let her treat you like that ffs

"Eh right so you want me to to just hang around while you decide whether you want to go ahead with our plans or not? Ya that's not happening!! I'm off out as arranged either way"

Blondebakingmumma · 16/08/2018 08:21

I ‘had’ a selfish friend like this. I told her I planned to go somewhere in the morning, she said she would like to go but wasn’t available till afternoon. I agreed to wait to go with her. When the time came to go, she had lost interest.
We are no longer friends because this is one of many self centered acts I had put up with

bexcee · 16/08/2018 08:25

Could she be depressed? I have days when I wake up and can't face the world. I usually try to force myself if I have something arranged though as hate letting people down but might be worth considering?
Hope you have a good day whether she joins you or not.

LongSummerDays · 16/08/2018 08:31

Not sure if I want to go out now, still in bed, will let you know within 2 hours

How rude! Reply "I've decided. We're not going. See you around."

reallyshouldnamechangemore · 16/08/2018 08:34

She's probably hungover 😊 I'd go without her too.

WillowPeach · 16/08/2018 08:36

Gosh she’s being incredibly rude. Clearly she thinks it’s ok to just leave someone hanging. Text her back saying her response is rude, you were looking forward to your plans and are upset that she thinks it’s ok to just treat you as a last resort.

I’d tell her to get stuffed and go and enjoy the day yourself. Treat yourself to a posh magazine and a nice lunch. Pfffft cheeky mare

notsohippychick · 16/08/2018 08:38

I’m impresses she’s still in bed and she’s got children!! LOL

Very rude indeed. Don’t be treated like that. Tell her you’ve got other plans now.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/08/2018 08:52

Annoying. Is she usually like this?

StoneofDestiny · 16/08/2018 19:09

Don't waste time being annoyed. Just say 'ok let's scrap it, I need to get on with my day'

KC225 · 16/08/2018 19:10

Is she always this flakey?

AimlesslyPurposeful · 16/08/2018 19:16

Any update OP ?

marry3456x · 16/08/2018 20:13

Ended up going out and bit of a disaster.
Shouldn't have bothered

OP posts:
ChaffyMcChaff · 16/08/2018 20:16

With her?

KC225 · 16/08/2018 20:22

Have you got another thread going regarding the dodgems?

PotteryLady · 16/08/2018 20:34

Did you go with her?

marry3456x · 16/08/2018 20:58

I have yeah ..she ended up getting annoyed with me as I hit her car.
Should have just added both threads together really.
Sorry

OP posts:
AimlesslyPurposeful · 16/08/2018 21:15
