Tattoo placement

Sorry it's not actually an aibu.

I have designed a tattoo I want to get, it will be my first and only one but it's fairly big.

It has huge emotional meaning for me and so I want it somewhere I can see it but I want to be able to cover it up, I don't want others (besides close family) to see it.

Any ideas - the only thing I can think would be my stomach and I'm thinking that might hurt a lot as I've had 2 kids and my stomach isn't exactly firm. 😬

Top of your leg/thigh area?

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 14/08/2018 11:25

Your thigh?

w4ytoomuch · 14/08/2018 11:27

Under boob or side rib?

Everywhere will be painful Grin

AllThreeWays · 14/08/2018 11:30

Ribcage, but ouchy

supercalifragilistic2 · 14/08/2018 11:32

Thighs or ribs if you don't want it 'on show' all the time.

What sort of design is it?

Verbena87 · 14/08/2018 11:33

Mine's on my side, below my hipbone but above my thigh. Wasn’t too sore but it’s quite small (maybe 3” square ish).

MissVanjie · 14/08/2018 11:34

Squashy areas like bum and belly will hurt less than bony areas like ribs and feet

Nizuc · 14/08/2018 11:38

The advice I gave my daughters is:

  1. Don't have any tattoos
  2. If you must have one, have it where you can see it in a bikini but not a wedding dress.
chaoscategorised · 14/08/2018 11:57

I say thigh or side - like under your arm down your ribcage (but that's painful). I've got a friend who has a LOT of tattoos and her thigh ones look gorgeous.

Tigger365 · 14/08/2018 12:00

I have several, most painful is an ongoing thigh piece. Uncomfortable but not insanely painful

mildshock · 14/08/2018 12:52

Thigh is best. I have a 7 inch tattoo on my thigh that barely anyone knows I have. I love it

Sarahrose21 · 14/08/2018 12:55

Ribs are INCREDIBLY painful, thigh is a good area for a big tattoo that is hidden easily and still visible without mirrors

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 14/08/2018 12:59

Thigh. Ribs are very painful (I speak from experience) and more likely to get stretched out if your weight fluctuates. Unless you’re planning on wearing very short skirts/shorts it should fit the bill.

I also know no one that’s managed to stick to just one, so worth bearing in mind!

TheLadyArmitage · 14/08/2018 14:34

Thigh it is then! Thanks everyone! 😊

I am thinking roughly about 7" for the size.

( I'm in my 30's and have had 2 babies so I doubt there are any bikinis or mini skirts in my future, lol. Plus I tend to swim in open water so actually it's usually a wetsuit rather than a costume 😁 )

Nizuc did they ask you for this advice or are you just telling them what they can do with their bodies off your own back?

colinthecaterpillars · 14/08/2018 15:40

Bit of advice for after you might want to consider if you swim in open water and swimming pools , is to wait at least 4 weeks till it's healed completely.

TheLadyArmitage · 14/08/2018 15:44

Ooh good point Colin! I will make sure to time it around any big swims I have booked! 😁
