We are on holiday -arrived yesterday.
Checked onto our Chalet and both bedrooms smelt musty when we went in.
No problem I thought I'll just open the windows and give it an air and whack the heating on (I know! It was raining!)
Did that and after we had been out for the evening came back and they still smelt musty. I thought the bedding was damp to touch but hubby didn't think so.
Opened windows again.
When I went to bed the bedding felt damp and I could still smell the damp. Ended up sleeping between two of my own throws I'd bought from home.
In the morning I was still convinced everything was damp so pulled sheets from mattress and the was mould spots.
Hubby called company who came out and offered to change mattress tomorrow. We said we're not sleeping on it.
Offered to bring a dehumidifier to try and rid of smell but it had been freshly painted and they don't get damp. He said once you get a smell in your head though...and trailed off.
After he had gone to and source a mattress I moved the beds and both rooms had mould on the skirting boards and walls.
On further inspection with my torch on phone the (faux suede) beds had mould on them.
He offered us 2 alternatives (after first saying they were fully booked)
One was a pet friendly chalet or a caravan.
We talked about it and rather than drive 4 hours home we took it. We have to move everything including our weekly shop that supermarket had delivered to the caravan.
We have been offered th e difference between our (deluxe!) Chalet and this caravan.
When we moved into the the caravan this is also a pet frendly caravan so does have a whiff of dog.
AIBU to think we should get more than just the difference? We booked a pet free deluxe villa and have a pet friendly caravan. We had to sleep a night until the mouldy damp chalet and wasn't believed and also had to take time out of our holiday to move again.
I feel really annoyed about it and feel like we payed for a better quality holiday than this!
